(I know this is late but I literally JUST joined xD)
At one time, there was a family of Avis who were numbered so many, one might get lost in them. One of the family members was a mother who had a son that not everyone would accept. Even their family couldn't stand the sight of him, for they knew this young creature was a male, yet..it was pink. Pink and yellow and much too feminine.
When the little boy Avis was still young, his mother provided him with many toys and fun games to play, but she would never let him outside. She wanted to protect her son from the cruelties of the world, because she knew that he would be made fun of. He didn't seem to mind it as a child, and every night she would tell him stories of great castles and dragons and magical beings. He was fascinated with these stories. Every night, when she had finished telling the story of the night, she would place his toy crown on his bedside table, and kiss him, whispering, "Sweet dreams, my little Prince."
As he grew, this continued, but when he became a teenager, something in him changed. It wasn't bad, and his mother didn't even know anything was going on in his mind. One night he was in his room, simply thinking and looking out his one window at the starry sky. His mother walked in on him, but he didn't move. "Mother..." he said slowly. "..W-Why..can't I ever go outside? What's wrong with me..? I know you and Daddy talked about it once, and you told him that you had..to protect me..I heard you.."
She sighed, and sat down with her now teenage boy, and tried to explain. "You...well honey..you're just..different. And people don't understand those who are different. In fact, difference is often feared. It shouldn't be, but..it is."
"I'm not..that different am I?" he asked.
She once again sighed. "My little Prince, you're the colors of a female.. Males aren't typically feminine pinks and yellows. They are more masculine colors. Blues, reds, and even shades of gray and black. None of which describe you."
He looked down at the ground with a frustrated glare. "Well if they can't learn to accept me that's their own fault! Did you know in the 1800s pink was the male color? And blue was the female color! It's true! I read it in a book once.."
This piece of information his mother did not know..however. "It doesn't matter that pink WAS the male color..the fact is..today it is not. And you won't be accepted by others because of it."
"And..because I like other males..I..don't like females.." he muttered. He had confessed this to his mom long ago, but he didn't know what to make of it, and she told him it wasn't considered normal in society, and that it wasn't acceptable, but that it didn't matter to her because she would always love him.
He picked up his head with a determined glare. "Well it doesn't matter! I'll find a boy who loves me and he won't care that I'm pink! And he'll love me for me, nothing else! If the others can't accept me for who I am, they're close-minded and mean and they can back off and not talk to me if they don't want because I won't wanna talk to them either! Besides..what should it matter what they think as long as I'm happy? If I'm happy, and I love myself, it doesn't matter what others think of me.." And inside him he knew his mother would always love him too.
And she did. She was proud of him, and the speech he gave influenced her to let him go outside for the very first time the next day. Others laughed and jeered like she had warned, but he didn't care. It was their own fault. He was nice to everyone he met, no matter how they treated him. He smiled, and waved, and created friendly conversation. He didn't notice his mother disappear into one of the shops as they walked, and he simply kept going, loving the feeling of being outside. She slipped back before he could notice that she was ever gone, and that night, they went home, and he was happier than ever.
When he went up to his room, he noticed something on his bed. It had a ribbon on it, with a small note. He walked over to it, noticing it was a small golden crown with blue jewels on it. There was also a small tail ring next to it, also gold with a blue jewel. He unwrapped the ribbon, and picked up the note.
"Honey, I am so proud of you. You are so mature for your age and so nice to everyone, and you don't let others get you down. You truly are a prince. Wear this whenever you feel alone, or whenever you simply feel like it, because to me, you truly are a Prince."
-Mom
Tears escaped his eyes and he put on the crown. It looked just like the one he had had as a child, but it was real gold and jewels, not just a toy. Even when he grew up and left his home to find his own, he never removed the crown and tail ring from his mother.
He became well-loved and respected, and he was always kind to everyone. He was soon known as "the Avis's Prince." Humble and kind, beautiful and graceful.

Something inspired me to write that. I kept seeing the every day castle prince saves the day stories so I wanted to give him a different kind of background where he was from a normal family.

Claim: Meski
No one knew of his conception, and really no one cared. There were already three young, handsome, and ambitious avi who were in line for the throne, and another one was just a hassle to deal with. He grew up lonely, only able to observe, never to really communicate. As he grew older, the young prince began to realize that he had no name. This made him distraught, and no matter who he asked, no name was given.
Over time, the avis lived in a silent torture, agonizing over his true name. His mother had died years before, but it was said that even she was so disappointed in his feminine coloration that she died of grief before she could name him. Most of the avi tortured him with these thoughts, and merely referred to him as "Pinky".
When the king became very ill, our young hero became his only caretaker; the king had become senile with his age, and the eldest princes wanted him to die off quickly so they could rise to power. The young avis spent all his time talking with his father, and listening to the stories that everyone else perceived as crazy. One day, without warning, the king shot up in his resting area, and shrieked for the avis to come to him. "Pinky" came to rest by his father's side, and, with the old creature's chest heaving and wings fluttering, he whispered in his boy's ear, "You are left unnamed; go to the realm of Golan; it is there and there alone that you will truly find your name." And with that, the decrepit king said his last words, and floated off into an endless slumber.
The kingdom rejoiced, the sons plotted against each other, and the young hero began researching this place called "Golan". As soon as he found a map, he hurried off to seek his name. When he made it to Golan, however, he found his hopes for his name dashed by the misery of the creatures there. One of the creatures ran toward the colorful avis, and began weeping. When asked what for, he responded with, "It's true! The avis of the pink will save us!"
When the other villagers heard this, they shouted in excitement, and brought him to the town square. There, the avis learned of the great terror avis, a huge beast that terrorized their homes. Our hero didn't want trouble, but was so sad for the villagers that he decided to confront and defeat the horrid beast.
The next morning, he went to the nearest farm, and shouted out for the beast to come. Within seconds, the black shrouded monster approached him. "You cannot defeat me, I am the new ruler of these lands. If you do, which no pinky bird can, then you can control this land. If you don't then you will be my personal slave." Our hero accepted these terms, and was prepared for the monster to breath fire onto the hut. Its inhabitants squealed and ran, but our hero was smart; he hid within the flames as his pelt was a similar color. The beast, not being so quick witted or fire resistant, ran into the flames to find him, but his eyes burned as he ran. He jumped up and flew away, his wing beats cooling the fire, and shouted, "You, you masculine avis, you are truly great. You are meski!"
The villagers were overjoyed at this, and cheered for their new hero. But one thing was on his mind: "What is my name? And what is meski?"
The villagers answered, "That must be your name; meski means masculine, and that is what this beast called you." And from that point on, our hero was called Meski for his true masculinity. He ruled the village fairly, and when he did return home he found it in chaos from the murder attempts of his brothers. They quickly handed over the kingdom to his just and fair rule, and all lived happily onwards. Even the creature, who found an abundant plateau of cows to call his own.
*sorry this was so long, but I needed to justly describe the story of his name*

Saphierre
Once in an Avis Kingdom a Princess was born who was named Saphierre because of her bright blue, saphire-like eyes, while the King and Queen were happy with their newborn daughter she also presented a problem; while there were many Kingdoms that were ambilinial or matrelinial, their Kingdom demanded a male heir. Because of this they dreaded the fast approaching day they would have to present her to their people, however they could not come up with any solution that their people would accept.
Then on the day before the baby Saphierre was to be presented to the Kingdom a Fairy Avis came along and over heard the King and Queen trying to find a solution and put forth a suggestion of their own. It opened it's magic bag and brought out a bottle containing a blue and pink swirled potion that had the effect of changing one's gender. The King and Queen gladly accepted it the potion and used it on Saphierre, though it did succeed in transforming her into a boy Saphierre's pink colouring and feminne appearence remained.
So the Kingdom welcomed "Prince" Saphierre and though many were surprised by his appearence he was accepted as the future King. And so he grew up happily, his parents loved him just as much as they had when he was born, however the Fairy, continued to live at the castle and eventually became Saphierre's closet friend and loyal companion.
One day the fairy mentioned to Saphierre that they had begun living in the castle shortly after he was born, when Saphierre asked why the fairy simply smiled and said "Well....just in case"

It was a tragic accident. Felma was coming back from the Spring's store, her basket in hand, when she spotted an Avis, drinking from a steam by the way. A natural lover of the skittish creatures, she stayed and watched for a few minutes, before it began raining. She set off again, brisquely when the rain began pouring down. Eventually she broke into a run as it began absoletely tipping it down, but the path was getting progressively more muddy and slippery as the rain wore on. well, as one might expect in such an epically tragic tale, she slipped. she caught herself with no injury, aside from getting terribly muddy, but the same could not be said for the contents of her basket. Cracking hard on the ground, the shattering of glass was muted by her splashing in the puddle, and it wasn't until she got home that she realised that her money pouch had split and she'd lost several coins, but two of her potion bottles had smashed and leaked out onto the ground.
And the rain washed them into the river...
...the river where the Avi came to drink...
(sorry, we're doing about pollution in biology. Couldn't get it out of my head. Pinali if I get him?)

crap, sorry, there was a whole second (well, fourth) paragraph that I'd accidentally overwritten. ;-; Insert this before the bracketed bit:
Lentali had been owned by the Duke's family for years. She was a well established symbol of their family. And so, as the mating season came and went, the youngest addition to their family, Opeli, kept pestering her father about the baby Lentali had falling pregnant with. "Can I keep it, Daddy? I wanna have a baby Avis! Please Daddy? Can I name her? I want it to be a girl! Can you make it a girl, daddy?" Both the Duke and Lentali was totally fed up with the child's attentions but eventually Lentali shed her burdan, and Opeli went berzerk on the baby instead! "She's pink! She's cute! I love her! Daddy you're amazing! Can I keep her?" No rest for fathers. Still, if only to get his daughter out of his hair, he said yes to her rapidly repeating stream of questions. And so Opeli went to play and look after her newfound baby girl avis. She dressed her up, she played with her, she even tried putting some of her jewelry on her. The tiara was far too big for the avis' head, but she tried anyway. And she raised her pet as a girl, even calling her Pinali, and all was good. At least until time came to breed her once more.
Opeli (now a good sight older) took her pet down for a checkup prior to turning her loose for the mating season, when the vet crushed all her childhood loves. "Nope, he's a very healthy boy you have there. You've taken care of him, and it shows."
Pinali on the other hand - knew full well he was male, and had always felt awkward under the ministrations of the child. But he intended to impress this season. It took real masculinity to impress a mate when you're hot pink. He just had to hope that the other females were just as apathetic to skin tone as his mother had been...
Sorry it's so long. But yea, you can see why I didn't want it to be lost. ^^

Claim: Magnus
Magnus had always been differant from other avis. Not only because he was a prince, but because of his colouring. He was often teased because of this. The only time he wan't being teased was when he was being mistaken for a girl, which happened a lot. Sometimes Magnus would allow the other avis to think he was female to avoid being teased. He ad even come up with a fake name. Kegra. His parents didn't like this, and wanted to disown him, but feared they would lose the respect of their cizizens.
Over the next few years, Magnus' parents became weak, and Γt was time for him to take over the throne. Of course, he couldn't do this as Kegra. He had to face the teasing, and admit his true gender. When he did, he was surprised he wasn't teased. The citizens had grown from their childish immature selves, and accepted him for who he was. His colouring didn't have to mark him. Magnus, for the first time in his life was happy. He took over the throne, and was a great king.

Claim: Kuningas
Kuningas had never been a typical prince. When his family went to social events, he would usually stick to himself, not because of his lack of popularity, but because he hated everyone. His hatred for others wasnβt because of his unusual colouring, for no one would dare make fun of him in fear of being beheaded (an order which he would send out.) His hatred for the world was neither the outcome of some tragic accident nor abuse as an infant. No, it was because of his black heart. Kuningas was born a wicked, spoiled and fowl mannered child. No matter how much time and effort his parents would put in to βstraighteningβ out their son, he would always revert back to his old and dastardly ways. Eventually, with no other options, the king and queen sent out the word that their son was possessed by the devil. Priests from all around the world came to the kingdom, trying to save the young prince. But, of course, all of their methods backfired. Kuningas howled with hysterical laughter as each and every priest tried and failed to change him. He would never change. Not now, not ever!
Over the years, the king became weary and warn out from the stress of his dying kingdom and his evil son. Eventually it became too much for him. He died in his bed, next to his weeping queen. Kuningas gazed at his fatherβs body from a nearby balcony with his cold blue eyes, a smile devouring his snout. This was it. This was finally his chance! It was tradition for the kingdom, when a king died, that his eldest son would take over. Unfortunately, the kingβs eldest and only son was the baneful, wicked and villainous Kuningas. He took to the thrown eagerly; ready to cause havoc to the land. And he did. But not before banishing his remaining relatives to some outcasty land of no return or some such place. After that day, the kingdom hasnβt been the same. Itβs been a cold and agonizing place for creatures to live, with mass depression all around. And thatβs just how Kuningas likes it.

Claim: Alaric
Alaric had the perfect life. His parents, the King and Queen of the Avaris, loved and doted on their only son. The Avaris subjects adored him for all of his charities and other such noble activities, and for his beautiful, rare coloring. He had never met a person whom he did not like or, so he thought, did not like him. But one day, this all changed in the space of only an hour, for a plot had been hatched to get rid of the beloved prince by those who envied his position. Solaros, the most loved and trusted of the Avaris healers, was killed in the night using nothing but a wing-tip dagger, the prince's special skill. The Avaris subjects were outraged and horrified, but refused to believe that their beloved prince could do something so horrible. Until, that is, more clues began to pop up.
When a pink feather was found in Solaros's cave, along with a piece of Prince Alaric's royal jewelry, the people had no choice but to believe it was him. Determined to clear his name and become beloved by his subjects once again, Alaric vowed to find the villians. He sent out his own personal spies, who remained loyal to him despite his situation, to discover who the true culprit was. He was shocked and apalled to find that it was truly his cousin, Orpheus, who would be next in the line to the throne should something happen to Alaric. When he presented his evidence to his parents and to the people, they immediately forgave him, and demanded the execution of Orpheus. Alaric, however, was a kind and gentle prince, and called only for a lifelong sentence in the royal prison, where Alaric made sure his unfortunate cousin was well kept.
Shortly after this character-revealing event, it became known that the King was very ill, and much to the sadness of all the Avis, he died. Ever since then, Alaric has ruled the Avaris fairly and wisely, and the subjects could not wish for a better king.

Claim: GlΓΌck
GlΓΌck was always strange. He was born to the German Avis clan's queen, after losing their king. One of his first memories was of him first going out in public. He had been excited all day because this was like a right of passage for a young Avis, the fact that their parents trust them enough to behave in public. for him it was especially important that he show poise and grace, because he was the next king-to-be. As the hour got closer and closer, he got more and more excited and nervous, after all, fist impressions are very important! Finally as he walks out of his birth-cave, everyone became quite quiet. what he didn't realize at the time was that all of the German Avis were strong and intimidating colors, like blue or black. Never had they seen an Avis that was so pink. He walks up to the nearest Avis and bows, as ceremony dictates, and topples forward. To his great dismay, everyone laughs, and laughs, and laughs. They jeer at him. one male, Hanovich, even says, "whats wrong sissy boy? don't have your wings yet?" (a quite horrible insult to an Avis, seeing as their wings are very highly prized) He, chagrined at the fact he was being riddled to badly, ran back to the farthest reaches of the cave and there he stayed until his mom finally found him and curled up around him as she had done since his birth, and softly rocked him back and forth and sang in her silky voice that had always been beloved by the king and the Avis clan's males: you are my baby, my precious, my darling,
no matter what ill love you, forever, until I'm gone,
and then ill love you forever all over again
This calmed him, but he didn't speak immediately, because he knew that if he spoke immediately he would be further embarrassed by the break in his voice that was sure to come. so he waited and let himself calm down some more. eventually let himself speak and said the words his mother had known were coming and dreading them, "momma, why did they laugh at me and say such horrible things to me?" she replied "because your different honey, they just don't understand, they want you to lash out so that they can get some sort of primal satisfaction."
Ever since this day he always took all the jeers and the insult in good humor, he didn't let them get under his scales. He just went about his business, and did his best to be a good prince. eventually everyone got used to him and, in time came to love him, if not still a bit uneasy around him. the only one that wouldn't give up was ever-present Hanovich. He would smirk every time GlΓΌck would do anything even slightly wrong, and whenever he could get him alone he would tell him horrible things that they did to "the cursed ones" and that no female would ever want him as their mate. GlΓΌck hated him with all the fibers with his being, and he felt horrible about it, but what could he do? Hanovich knew his insecurities, just how to make his hair bristle. one day when GlΓΌck was out hunting, he heard the sentries giving off the battle call, thinking they were under attack by another clan, he flew as swiftly as he could home, only to find everyone wailing and screeching and crying. He got a horrible feeling and with a wounded cry, he ran to his mothers cave and found her on her nest with her head severed as only another avis's claws can do. It looked as though someone had snuck up on her in her evening nap (she was getting advanced in years). He ran outside and started to gather stone for the tomb, immersing himself so as not to cry. He finally finished and heaving, began the vigil over her body. Many came and went, but he was the only one that was allowed to stay...the next day he questioned the guards as to see if they had seen anyone cross the borders, out of all of them only one saw something, he said that he saw Hanovich running away. He didn't stop him assuming that his stomach was on the fritz, as this happens sometimes if you eat a gone bad squirrel. several days went b,y and Hanovich never returned. soon everyone came to realize just whom it was who killed the queen. everyone was outraged. Especially GlΓΌck, whom hated Hanovich more than he thought possible now. He then put one of the elders in charge and set off. Hanovich could do anything to him, but killing his mother was where he drew the line. He vowed: he. would. get. revenge.

Claim: Zala
(I hope this isn't too long of a story..it's only half a page D: )
Zala had always been different than other Avis. Though his parents loved him dearly, others would tease him for his colouring. But his spirit could not be crushed, when they teased him he'd remember what his mother would always tell him - He was born with the colour of love, and love is beautiful, strong, brave and powerful. He vowed to live up to that.
One day, a strange, giant creature intruded on their territory - threaten them with it's powers. Many of Zala's fellow Avis, even his own father, fought with the creature to defend their home - only to fall against it. Thinking only of his mother's words, he challenged the creature.
Upon seeing this challenger, the creature laughed at him - amused that such a "weakling" though he could defeat him. Zala took the creature's moment of distraction to make his move. He ran towards it, gathering up speed before jumping at the creature. Zala hit the creatures chest hard, surprising and winding the creature. It stumbled, knocked off balance because of it's large size. It failed to notice the cliff behind it, nor the ground crumbling beneath it's weight, till it was too late and already plummeting to his death.
The other Avis that had been watching the battle, came out of hiding. All was quiet, and they noticed their hero was missing. They realized that he had been dragged down with the creature.
As they wept over the fallen hero, Zala's mother looked toward the cliff where her son had fallen - only to see a pink paw on the edge of the cliff. She ran over to the edge and looked down to find him clinging there. He had hurt his wing when he got dragged down by the creature, so he climbed his way up the cliff. With help from his mother and the other avis, he was back on the ground and safe.
For saving their home and everyone in it, he was respected and became a king of sorts. He was gifted with beautiful trinkets and even crowned. His wing did heal and he was know by all as a benevolent king who loved all.

Is it alright if we make it into a literature document and just link it to this? Or does it have to be a comment? *I'm thinking either epic story or story poem of epicness*

The young prince was going to going to complete his requirements to be king, but the princess tried to destroy the entire kingdom because she would not become queen. The young prince saved the kingdom, if you don't include the lower city. Then he created a sculptor of the queen and king. He also found a woman, she is funny and has a lot of energy. He became king, but he is no ordinary king because he is not ambitious, he DOES eat macaroni and cheese, and he DOES have a cell phone.
