Could I keep this one please?

"Pantalaimon was now an animal whose name he couldn't find: like a large and powerful ferret, red-gold in colour, lithe and sinuous and full of grace.

'A marten', Will said, finding the name for Pantalaimon, 'a pine-marten.'

'Pan', Lyra said as he flowed on to her lap, 'you're not going to change a lot anymore, are you?'

'No,' he said.

'It's funny', she said, 'you remember when we were younger and I didn't want you to stop changing at all...Well, I wouldn't mind so much now. Not if you stay like this.'

Knowing exactly what he was doing and exactly what it would mean, he moved his hand from Lyra's wrist and stroked the red-golden fur of her dæmon.

And she knew too that neither daemon would change now, having felt a lover's hand on them. These were their shapes for life: they would want no other."

His name will be Pantalaimon, after Pan from His Dark Materials. <3

Oh gosh yes. I've checked it out so many times from the library, I swear that they should just place permanent hold on it for me. I love Pan and Will and the story was so awesome and interesting, what with the daemons and their shape changing and yeah.

I hope to get a hardcopy version of them all for my birthday in a month.

I discovered them in middle school, seventh grade, about three years ago. Fell in love with them immediately. The only real fan fiction I ever did was for those books. (And Harry potter, but who is talking about those)

asdfghj I read all sorts of fanfiction. Now that I'm about to be 21 in April I've mainly stopped but every now and then I'll read something or write a chapter. xD;

I thought the first movie was great too. It didn't cut off at the right point but it was still good. I just felt like it was stupid they couldn't continue the series because the Catholic Church felt the need to complain. 8|

I really just want them to reconsider making the rest of the movies but I know they won't. :c

No, they won't. Sad that the church had to go and get offended.

The problem I had with it is that what they were offended about was so obscure as to the theme of the book that they would have had to /scrounge around for ideas/ and then just purposely complain to ruin the movie. I know they went into it KNOWING they were just being assholes on purpose. Philip Pullman himself said the books had nothing to do with what the Catholic Church was complaining about and that if he'd wanted to write something religious he'd have written a sermon.

Agreed. I think the main problem that they had with it was the fact that the church (not even Catholic church) was portrayed in a way that they didn't like.
