Wet. Cold and wet. It's all I really register when I come to. Something is pressed up against my cheek, and compared to the warm fur I'm snuggled into, it's cold, and it feels like there's water on my face. My eyes slip open as I register the rather, currently at least, odd feeling and I'm met with the eyes of another creature. Something..brown? It blinks at me and sniffs at me, checking me over until I come to my senses enough to realize a little Lepus Mikri has wandered over to me in concern. I don't know if she's actually realized I'm awake yet, but I shift just a tiny bit to catch her attention and smile at her rather sleepily, a small, "Hey.." passing my lips in nothing more than a whisper. This catches her attention, and soon enough my arms are open and she's crawling into them, sniffing at my neck and face more and making me giggle a little with the tickle of her long whiskers.
It takes some time, but eventually I'm back on my feet and so is Inje, and it's no question if the Lepus wants to come home with us. Usually I would ask first, but the way she's already snuggled into my arms leaves no doubt in my mind that she's content with my arms as her new forever home. I have to shift her into one arm so that Inje can once more take my hand in her gentle muzzle, leading the way back home, and as we walk I look over the lepus for the first time, noticing her pretty brown marks but also the scars that litter her body. Not thinking that Lepus Mikris would be a confrontational species, I question whether something tried to attack her, or if she simply ran into a nasty bush full of thorns.
Still sick and tired and obviously probably worse after being drenched from the rain, I don't talk much on the way back, simply letting Inje lead, but I nuzzle the new Lepus gently and just as I'm stepping foot in the door, a murmur passes my lips. "I'll call you Ruskea.." I whisper down to her, and I kiss her forehead gently, then looking up to see..
My pets and Madi's standing in front of me, Madi right in the center, and where it's obvious from her hair that she was in a frenzy before, the only facial expression I can read is one of pure anger.
I went out while I was sick, and Madi's pissed.
I may as well kiss my life goodbye.
