English:Here is the 2nd version of my tool: Random Screensaver.
Random Screensaver breaks the Windows limitation to 1 selected screensaver at time.
Like the background slideshow in Windows 7, Random Screensaver allows you to set several screensavers at once, starting one of them when the computer is inactive.
Random Screensaver works as a screensaver. Select it as your screensaver and it will launch the screensavers you want!
Available in English and French, the language is automatically detected and applied.

would it be possible to have a Non-UAC edition sort of like what screenmonkey does where it offers just the scr file or an installer?

Hi, is there an option to stop the screensaver automatically after the monitor powers off?
There are some 3D ones that need some CPU\GPU power, but that's ok only for a few minutes, not for hours..

Not in this version. But I'm working on a new version, I will think to add this feature.
Does setting a screen-off delay in Windows Display or Power settings do the job? Or maybe the screensaver continues running under the black screen?

I thought that the screen turning off would have disabled the screensaver too, but that didn't work (at least on Windows 7).
Btw, do you know by chance a freeware screensaver to display random photos from custom folders?
Sadly the Windows' default one has a problem with multiple displays.

this is amdcrash.
i was looking for a random screensaver program but i couldnt find one that worked until i stumbled upon yours.
one thing to note is my computer did have a issue with installing the framework. that was fixed today.
as for the program, it is great! it works well and is light on my system, i do have a question though, what does the launching type "random (filtered)" do for the launching?
i will be recommending this program to my friends and i will keep a eye on your deviantart in the future!

Je cherchais un programme d’écran de veille au hasard, mais je n’ai pas pu en trouver un qui fonctionne jusqu’à ce que je tombe sur le vôtre.
Une chose à noter est que mon ordinateur a eu un problème avec l'installation du framework. cela a été corrigé aujourd'hui.
quant au programme, c'est génial! cela fonctionne bien et est léger sur mon système, j'ai une question cependant, qu'est-ce que le type de lancement "random (filtré)" fait pour le lancement?

To answer your question:
Random (filtered) differs from Random by semi-sorting the order of screensavers.
Hard to explain, let's go with an example.
You have 3 screensavers, A-B-C. For a series of 3 launching.
With Random, the screensaver is chosen by true chance, so you may as well have A-C-B than A-A-B or even B-B-B.
With Random (filtered), once a screensaver was chosen, it cannot be chosen twice before all other having their turn. It's like the Random option on your music player: it will play all the list, but each one only once. So you can have C-A-B or B-A-C but never C-C-A etc.
I plan to simplify this in the next version.

I remembered when I had this error text. One of the programs in your list asks for administrator privileges at some moment, but my manager doesn't support elevated launch.
I was working on a newer version with this feature but lost my data with the break of my disk T_T

Thanks for the response. I would love to be able to have groups of screensavers to choose from randomly. For example...a group for various clock screensavers, and another for various photo screensavers, etc. That way I could cycle through screensavers, but I would get a random screensaver from each of the various groups. Right now I have over 100 screensavers, but I don't often see some of them because they are rarely chosen from the list.

Thanks for a great program. I have a similar issue as bluecheez5. I would like to use multiple copies of your program to group screensavers together. I tried renaming your "random screensaver" and using multiple copies, but when I change the list of screensavers in one copy, it changes this for all of them. I'm assuming this is due to a common reference in your program to the registry or another location. Is there a way to make this happen?

Indeed I write my settings in the Registry, so any instance of the program will read and write to the same place.

I don't know such a program.
Sadly I don't think it's possible: Screensavers are already programs with a different extension, and it's the screensaver itself which "decide" to close when you move the mouse, so to keep them on desktop, all screensavers should be modified :S

Hi, RS it's not working on my system (Windows XP SP3). The software gets loaded in the list of screensavers; I can get into the configuration of it; I can make a list of screensavers to start random, but the ss never start. The cursor blinks when I get to one minute, but that's all. I can, however, double click the "Random Screensaver.scr" inside "C:\Windows" and then it works! So, like you said in the FAQ, Windows is not recognizing it. I don't have the "PRandom Screensaver" in the list of ss of the dialog box. What can I do?
