Description
I've been playing a new beginning again after a few years. My sister was more into the game than I was. She was still working through year 5, married to Iroha and had a son. I never was able to unlock Amir, Sanjay, or Olivia. I always had trouble figuring out who I would get with. I had started dating Neil in once, Β on a different file I asked Allen out (and was told I "wasn't on his level") I had a slight interest in Soseki too. I never could get a strong feeling off anyone. I thought that when I unlocked Sanjay, I'd definitely go with him. I'm now sure after months (yes-months) of contemplation I'll go with Rod. He's just a nice guy. I used to like guys like Neil. I married Vaughn in IOH (Now it's all about ElliotRelated content

Awww, that is beyond adorable! Rod is so cute!
And just like you, I really can't stand the Jerk or Tsundere characters. It has to be nice guy for me.Β

Yeah. I usually can be entertained by the jerkish type but I just don't want to date/marry them. I like a character with depth but I'd rather not have to spend several seasons just trying to break down their walls, just to see what they're really like. :/ Β I don't mind the reserved characters, just the jerks that get an attitude with you just for saying "hi".Β

You are taking the words from my mouth! I really don't get why they are so popular most of the time. I wish some of the nicer characters would get more love, but often the reason is "They are looking to young. They are too nice." Really? Would you date the jerk over the nice guy in RL too?

IKR. Β I just don't get how some people find the jerks "dreamy" or so mysterious. What's the mystery? He's a jerk. If the guy was quiet and maybe just a little abrasive then I'd consider it but the point where he only smiles when you give a gift or he doesn't say anything positive to you is when I usually have him checked on my "Nope" list. Β I'm not very social and get nervous when talking to new people (and people I know too) because of this my social skills aren't the best but I don't tell people to go away or to be quiet when ever someone stops by. Β I can like these characters but only as friends. Β Β

I think that was especially awful with Neil and Allen. Neil sometimes says things like "Sheesh, why do I have to see your face in the morning?" Oh wow, thanks, Β Neil! You came to MY farm! And Allen is like "Don't talk to me, I haven't slept much!" and later "Oh, now I feel like talking to you. A little!" Aaaaargh, they are driving me nuts! Stop being such asshats please! Rod never said something insulting to me.Β
The whole cast of ANB is a bit crazy, come to think of it...

Right now I'm just finding Allen amusing. I just can't help but laugh when he comes to my farm then says not to talk to him until he's had his coffee. I'm one of those players where everyone has to have a red heart even if I don't have plans to marry them. I guess that is the best revenge. Β I was interested in Soseki, I like him but when he complains about being old it can just be annoying. He's not even old-old. He's just older than the other guys (which is what makes him attractive) I have never unlocked Sanjay or Amir. From what I hear, Sajay is pretty cool. Kind and gentle. I only know Amir from Grand Bazaar but I don't know if his character has changed for ANB. Β

I am at year 2 spring in ANB. I plan to play it a while longer but I don't dedicate much time to it lately (got interested in other games).Β
And having hearts with the people in ANB isn't difficult. They are rising so quickly! Even when you are not giving any gifts.
Ah yes... Soseki... I can understand him a bit. I am only 31 but I sometimes act like a grandma. I just realized that my body aches more after a certain age. But Soseki is acting like he is 30 years older than the main character! That is a bit much.Β

Yeah, Neil's heart turned purple when I only gave him three gifts, I just talked to him as I was passing. My sister, who played into yr 5 and was married to Iroha (and then accidentally saved over her file XD) said that all the other girls had a red heart when she didn't visit them. She attributes it to the fact she wins every festival and they get points for that. I didn't really like ANB but I'm really getting into it again, I've even put SOS trio on the back burner.

I hated ANB at the beginning. The first month was SOOOO boring. I put it down and played ToTT again. But I picked it up recently and startet to enjoy it. Also, I still have to play it and the first story of Seasons cause 3oT hasn't got a release in Europe yet.Β

Yeah the beginning is pretty boring so it's important that I create a goal to keep myself motivated. I gave my copy of ToTT to a friend because I got bored (I didn't play too long into the game and now I regret giving it away ) As for SOS Trio, it's completely worth the wait

But after the boring part I really started to like ANB!Β
Yeah, I hope they will give out a release date soon. Nobody in the EU knows if we will ever get it. We often have issues. A New Beginning had some issues too with the localization, so they didn't translate it. Story of Seasons was handled fine and got a superb translation.Β

Well, that's good. Hopefully trio will come out soon. But at least it gives you time to work at other hm games. Trio is super addictive. It took all I had to break away to play ANB.

It gives me time for Skytree Village. I know that isn't really a HM game, but a farming game more is nice to have. I also pulled out some of the console titles. Working my way trough Animal Parade.Β

Yeah, I would've never thought I could get so into farming games. I got my first HM game in the sixth grade (IOH) and now I'm a college student. Gotta say, HM/SOS is my favorite series though I only have the games for the 64, Gamecube, DS/3DS. Β I've thought about Animal Parade but then I would need to get a Wii first.

Ahahaha.... I started with the first one... and I was eleven back then.... I sometimes feel so old...
And you can believe me, I played them all. At least all of them that released in Europe. Some of them more than others. My absolute favourite has to be Back to Nature. I don't really have a second favourite. They all have their flaws and ups.Β
But nice to see someone who has a special connection to IoH. This game is really hated, but I played it a lot.Β

IOH is what got me into HM and holds a very special place in my heart. There are things that I don't like about it (like how it flashes black all of a sudden) but the characters are one of my favorite cast. I especially love mining in that game. It could be challenging with the sun/water points for crops but still easy to play. ANB actually was my second HM game (If you don't count sunshine islands) and then after that I started getting a bunch of the games. Β The only problem is devoting time to each game. When I get a couple at the same time I just end up playing one and neglecting the other. The good thing though is that when I got bored with one, I'd just move on to the other one and eventually go back to the first one

I know what you are talking about! I also want to play some other games and do other things. And not to forget work hours and the household and everything. So the games often fall a bit flat and I am waaaay behind from everyone else with more time.Β

Yeah, since I've started playing ANB again about three weeks ago, I've almost completed town restoration 3. (mainly because I know what I need to do/ stock up on to complete the blueprints faster) I've unlocked Rod~love him, but I'm starting to think about Trio again. Since its summer, I don't have much to do (don't have a summer job or anything) so I sit around and play HM, draw HM, write HM fanfic, (I'm a real loser XD) I want to play both games but Its not like you can just play one one day then the other the next and repeat. Once I start playing, I get goals in the game and have to wait till I complete it or my interest dwindles. I have a friend who has Trio and said she completed the game already (not the marriage and kid part though) and I haven't even completed the first year yet. I don't even know what winter looks like yet.Β

Eh, I don't have a problem with switching. Often I play a Harvest Moon Game about a hour before I go to bed. They are relaxing and easy to play and I can sleep well after them. The relaxing music also helps.Β

Yeah, the music is great. Some games better than others. If I just hear the music for IOH I might start crying (but that's just nostalgia getting me) I usually play HM throughout the day. I gotta warn you though, for SOS Trio, that's not a game to start before bed. My only complaint for the game is how long the start up is. Though, there are some parts where you can just select what you specifically want to know for crops and animals or just say you get it and move on. That saves a lot of time.Β

Since Grand Bazaar, the startup of the games is terrible slow! I nearly dropped ANB because the tutorial bored me soooo much! It gets better the longer you play. It was the other way around earlier. You had sooo much to do at the beginning but then things calmed down and went into routine.Β
It sounds like 3oT could get pretty hectic.Β

SpringTurnips In reply to MrsLittletall [2017-06-12 15:26:07 +0000 UTC]
The startup can be killer but once they end (in Trio) it is a lotta fun. There are goals in the game but they aren't rushed. It's not like ANB where Dunhill just sits around trying to think of things for you to do. One thing I really like about trio is the sense of community in the three towns. The characters hang out with each other, eat with each other, talk to and about each other, there is a family with small children in each village as well as elderly folks + the characters seem to have more effort put into them. They have backstories and insecurities. As for the Bachelors, all of them are good choices. Its a really good selection. They're all different but not so different that its a 'this' or 'that' pick. Grand Bazaar, I thought, had a good section too. Since getting into ANB and getting Trio, I haven't been playing Grand Bazaar that much.Β
Once you get past the startup (which is pretty interesting in the beginning with the father not supporting your farming plans) it is a pretty laid back game in my opinion. It's cool because you get to pick the personality type of the character. I picked Tychoon and started out with 50,000G! my sis picked charmer and the girl's hearts change color pretty quickly for her (she always plays as a boy)
