Beauty and the Beast. Illustration for a book of fairytales im working on...which will probably never be finished

Surprisingly, the hardest part to paint was the rose the beast is holding lol.
The aim of this painting was complete deviation from the preconceived idea you have of a subject. Personally, i have ALWAYS associated the Beauty and the Beast with the colour red (fire and roses) so i decided to try painting this with an opposite colour scheme (blue and water).
....If that makes any sense. hehehe. Crappy english...
Anyway, if you did understant what i was trying to say, its a really good painting exercise to try

This is gorgeous, the water looks rather real and the shift from light to dark work very well, how does this have so little favs?

I think your plan worked out well, the colors and motif are really jarring because I too thought of them more suited to red and fire.
Destroy a notion and create upheaval!
