Description I don't usually do realistic paintings like this, but it felt appropriate this time.

I don't even know what to say. Linkin Park has been my favorite band since I was 13. I bought every one of their albums, I saw them live in 2009, I listened to them pretty much non-stop throughout high school. They helped me through the depression I experienced during that time, and I remember listening to them when coming up with ideas for my drawings and comics. I definitely wouldn't be where I am now without them.

Chester gave me and so many others the strength to face our demons. I'm heartbroken that he lost the battle against his own.

Rest in peace, Chester. I was a fan.

I love this painting...
And also. Maybe he didn't lose his battle? Maybe that was the only way to overcome them? I like to think about it from that perspective.

I'm glad you like the painting, first of all. It's definitely one of the most ambitious things I've worked on.

I agree with your perspective, to an extent. Mental illness and trauma is so often painted as this thing you can learn to cope with if you just try hard enough, but that's not always the case for a lot of people. Sometimes it is too much to overcome, and too often, ending it seems like the only solution.

Though to say he "beat" depression is a bit of a stretch, in my opinion. In the end, it was depression that drove him to take his own life. I don't fault him for it, but it was an unfortunate outcome no matter how you look at it.

Woah easy, I don't think that suicide was the best solution! I agree to you. But as a depression sufferer myself I can see why he did it. I just hope he is in better place right now and rocks stage together with Cornell...

I didn't think you were saying suicide was okay, sorry if that's what I implied. It's sad that it happened, but I understand why he did it too. I just hope he's at peace now.
