"There was once a drake in my dreams," Cinnabar murmured, golden green eyes searching the horizon, as if she would see him flying towards her right then and there through the mountains. As if he weren't a dream after all. "He was a drake of wonder... His scales matched a blazing desert being swallowed by smoke. Beautiful colored stars glittered beneath his wings and his eyes, oh, his eyes. One sparkled like a silvery moon while the other glinted a warm, deep brown. His smile was etched so perfectly onto his muzzle..."

The SkyWing princess sighed, a small smile flickering onto her snout. She looked upwards to where stars were slowly begining to shine through the setting sun-lit sky. She felt giddy and warm inside as she remembered her fruity dreams, and yet terribly empty, knowing that the handsome drake couldn't be real. "Dream after dream, we would dance beneath the sky. Sometimes beneath the benevolent stars, other times beneath the white clouds and soaring sun. Oh, Cliff, it was magical. So magical. I always felt like the drake was real; everything was so vivid and beautiful. I could feel the wind beneath my wings when we flew. I could smell the sweet scents of newly bloomed flowers. I could hear everything imaginable. And I swore I could feel him. I swore I could feel his heat-radiating scales." She lifted up her talons, clenching and unclenching them, trying to grasp what wasn't there. "I swore I could feel his talons wrapped around mine. I can still feel them to this day..."

Cliff tilted his head, staring down at his young sister curiously. He couldn't remember having any vivid dreams, ones worthy of remembering, anyhow. "What happened to this dream drake?" he asked.

Cinnabar leaned against the castle railing, entwining her talons together and setting her large, drooping wings behind her. She hardly ever broke a regal stance, but now, she was terribly hollow and forelorn. Crushed. "He was a mere fairytale," she answered simply, her smile turning into a frown of disdain. "He was everything I wanted and more. He was wise, terribly wise for his age. He knew poetry and the sappiest sayings. He was protective and kind and romantic. Perhaps a bit jelous. But he would have never hurt me... At one point, he was my king, and I his queen. We had two beautiful dragonets. We ruled our land happily and fairly. But they were just fruitful dreams, Cliff. They could never come true."

"You don't know that," Cliff assured, settling himself next to Cinnabar and wrapping a dark red wing around her comfortingly. "You are a princess who is destiend to take mother's throne. Many drakes will want to take your hand in marriage. Perhaps not the drake of your dreams, but a drake who will do everything for you. You can still rule the kingdom grandly and still have dragonets."

The SkyWing princess shook her head. "You know very well how hard it is to find a potential mate who doesn't want you for fame and wealth. With how many dragonesses you bring through the castle doors, I can fully concure that it's nearly impossible. But this drake of my dreams... he wanted me for me..."

Cliff sighed, his gaze flickering towards the setting sun. "We all have someone created just for us, perhaps someone who isn't our acclaimed "soulmate". We just have to find the real dragon of our heart."

"That's the thing, Cliff... I fear there is no one else for me, other than a drake who died before he could see the sun." Cinnabar closed her eyes and sighed. After a moment, pained words escaped her throat.

"Kibou was the drake of a future I could not have. But I wish so dearly for that future..."

Decided to try a cute cartoony/sticker like style. I think it worked out ^^

This is within the world where Kibou didn't live, but his spirit of what he could have been was roaming the world. Eventually he traveled into Cinnabar's dreams, and the two fell head over heels in love, similar to a Romeo and Juliet tale. But Kibou's spirit life was limited. After a tragic farewell, Cinnabar never had a dream involving him again, for he had finally traveled to the stars. As the years go by, she always thinks of him and what life could have been like if he had lived...

(I've also been writing really sad things lately because my dog may die soon, after I've already lost my dad and my cat aaaaaa don't mind sad me)
