Description
1st day of decathlon, 1 new lifetime record, a new event mark, and a number i havent seen in a long time. More to read later about it in my journal.I haven't really done long jump since sophmore year in HS, and then i jumped 16'10, here in college i did it 2 times before to see where I was in regards to my HS PR. The reults were, not that far. I jumped about 5.1 meters which is very close to 16'10.
Today in the 1st day of Decathlon when we got to the LJ my first 2 jumps were fouls by about an inch over the board, but my approach, speed and jumps felt very good, my landings had a bit to be desired though... My last chance to get a mark I took a step back and did what i did before, dug hard off my toes, pushed foward, pumped arms etc, I hit the board and my popped my hips up.... no foul... then planted what felt like a perfect landing... when i got up and heard 19'5 my jaw hit the floor...
Earlier in the year (march'ish) my coaches told me i was an 18ft jumper at the very least. I bet they werent expecting a 19ft jump to be my end season mark.
Im very proud and very happy about this... Tomorrow is another day of events and i think im going to go pass out on my bed.

I knew your legs were strong, but I had no idea that they were that strong.

Well like all T&F events theres a lot of technique involved. Technique in the approach, the jump and landing. If i didnt do each of em right i prob would have seen another 16ft jump or 17ft jump.
