I'm going to state something a little unpopular here. I wouldn't mind if Scorbunny became a fighting type. Sure I'd like to see it be something else but I wouldn't mind the fighting type being what it were to gain when it evolves seeing as to how we had a break away from it for the last two generations.

Like I told someone else in this conversation not only has a steel type starter only ever been done once but Fire/Steel is a type only exclusive to the Legendary Pokemon Heatran.

I'm kind of hoping that Grookey evolves into a dark type. I'm not entirely sure what type Sobble should gain. In fact it very well end up being pure water type.

Well for me, I feel like Grookey mind turn out to be Grass/Ground
since the trailer it made the grass regrowΒ
As for Sobble I'm also not sure what type it will get so it could be just Water, but it were to get a second type, I feel like either Ghost or Ice would work for itΒ

How could I have forgotten about the Ghost type for Sobble!? Also I think you might be the first person who I've seen who wanted Sobble to become an Ice type. Another choice I would've chose for Grookey would've been the Rock type seeing as like Fire/Steel it was only used ever once & this time with the Lileep family.

I not saying Sobble should get an Ice Type, I just saying what if it did get an Ice typing,
Yeah I can also Seeing Grookey getting a rock type mix in with glass, But it would be 4X weak to Ice it did get but then again
Scour-bunny would be 4x Weak to Ground if it did get the Fire/Steel comboΒ

The reason to why I say Rock is because people are speculating whether or not Grookey will inevitably evolve into a music based primate, particularly that of the rock genre. I even thought of a possible name for the final stage should it get the dark dark type, being Baboodo (Baboon + Voodoo; Voodoo also happening to be the name of a rock song, albeit an American one but still a rock song nonetheless).

I can see why some want are ok with that typing. But I still think Fire/Ground or Fire/Rock would work even with the sports theme.

That is really unpopular! XD I see your point though! Personally I've never been a fan of the fire starters and I just did the Electric type since it was the choice of my audience on instagram. Same with Water-Dragon and Grass-Sound(non existent type)

don't worry, I'm with you there. since it's highly likely it's Soccer themed, it would only make sense for it to be Fire/Fighting. I'd personally prefer Fire/Electric for a speedy rabbit, but I'd be just as fine otherwise.

What I'm kind of hoping for a Fire/Steel type in all honesty. Not only is Heatran the only Pokemon to represent this type combo but the only steel type Starter Pokemon we got at the moment is personal best Sinnoh starter Empoleon.
