Description
Original Piece by ChaoticMay : chaoticmay.deviantart.com/art/…The head and face seemed fine to me, but it was hard to tell where her neck went. Part of that was because there was no definition to her shoulders, so it made them look very wide and broad.
Now, the angle you drew her at can be fun, but it can also be a bit tricky, especially with this kind of pose. It appears as though her center of gravity is meant to go through her right leg, or at least close to it, but with how straight she’s standing up, she looks like she’s about to fall over. So I arched her back to give her a bit more balance and at the same time, a bit more sassiness. Another part of the problem with the “unbalanced” feel was how her legs attached to her loins. The hips were very close to her crotch, so I just made that space a bit wider giving her more of a crotch, while also giving her leg some dimension.
About the legs, the direction you put them in was actually very well done for this pose. The only part that was really off about them were the feet. You don’t have to have the feet pointing in the same direction, especially for a standing pose like this one. So I just turned both her feet outward, and it makes her look more relaxed but also planted on the ground.
One of the trickiest parts were the arms. Bottom line: they were too long, but honestly, crossing arms are one of the trickiest things to draw. I even had to keep erasing over and over until I got the proportions somewhat right. Basic rule of thumb for arms: the elbow tends to rest right around the natural waist line, and the wrist lands around the crotch line.
As for the tail, my biggest concern was that there was no indication of attachment. It was almost as if it disappeared once it came in contact with the cape. So I just turned it a bit more inward, so you can see the tail a bit more.
Now onto the cape. When drawing capes, it’s always a good idea to start with the clasp. The clasp is what’s holding it onto the body, so there will be lots of tension there. Your clasp had too much slack to be holding up something with so much fabric, so just keep in mind how tight everything around that one spot is. As for the hood, unless it is lined with fur or another thick material, you actually won’t see the end of the hood from this angle. Gravity would pull it down and it would still follow the tension rules set by the clasp.
Good luck and keep drawing!
(also, I just had to finish drawing her. Your character design was so cool!)

Thank you SO much for the detailed correction!
I noticed a lot of what you mentioned just while I was trying to get the pose down, so maybe I have good instincts, just gotta keep working on my drawing skills. This is really helpful, I really appreciate it.
P.S. I'm glad you like my character design!

You're very welcome!
If you've already noticed these things, then it's just a matter of
practice and bringing your hands to the artistic level of your eyes.
Also, I took a look at your gallery. You do ram horns really well!

I like watching this group for red line explanations like this.
Even for someone like me (dabbles more in 3D software like DAZ Studio/Poser), you provide insight on other aspects of the composition and pose useful in many endeavors.
I appreciate the time it takes to do this kind of mentoring. Well done.
