this is a rather late birthday present fanart thingy of/for =lady-shirakawa . title by herrather typically of my drawings, I loved it once I'd done the outline, hated it after starting shading. after a while I made myself go back to it, and ended up rubbing out most of what I'd done. Kept working on it, kept changing my mind about it, and am now finished, neither really liking it or otherwise :/
on the other hand, the only drawings of mine I've really liked by the time I finished them, were ones involving ducks. Be thankfull that means that you most definately aren't a duck, tessa!
pencils - mainly hb for the light parts, b/2b for the hair, and 5b for the background.
the 5b was the most annoying pencil ever, since the lead was broken up so much that I had to sharpen it about 5 times to get a bit of lead that would stay in long enough to draw.
No idea what's up next, so you'll just have to wait and see.

The hair is perfect, as is the expression. You're work is wonderful, and I know you're own worst critic (guilty as well) but sometimes you have to listen to the audience and then just never look at the peice again and do something else. If I ever look at any of peices too long, I hate them, so I don't look at my art anymore. Try looking at it upsidedown, my peices always look better that way, and then if you have to look at them, just hang them that way

Cool detailing, and if i met this person I'd swear she looked like my sister, not the same but similar. I'd also think they were an odd looking human-being.

You're being to hard on yourself, it looks wonderful, especially the hair, and judging by a quick glance at Lady Shirakawa's page, seems like you achieved a very good likeness.

ok so the hair and clothes are amazing but the nose needs to be closer to my eyes and I'm sure you've noticed that my left eye is a bit wonky
You've done what a lot of people do wrong I think and started with a detailed outline. With faces especially I find it easier to start with the eyes nose then lips and then do the face it's like a jigsaw and it usually stops warped faces.It was a hard angle so I'll forgive you for now

WOW!! You are really too hard on yourself!! I think this piece like all of your others is fantastic!!! I would almost swear this is a black and white photo, your attention to detail is beyond words to describe!! It's just that beautiful. the shading and light that you always seem to do just so well in all your pictures brings this image to life. I am no artist but I am just awed by your work at your age too!!
