“Oi Penguin, hurry up will ya?”

Tuque loomed over the skinny little hacker until Cookie dragged him away.

“Quit it Tuque!” Cookie’s idea of a whisper rumbled around the vault. “Marbles says stop pestering the kid or he’ll only get nervous, and screw up again.”

“Damn right he should get nervous! Satchel’s sitting out there with the truck and there’s only so long before somebody spots him.” Tuque threw off Cookie’s massive hand. “Hey kid, work faster, y’hear?”

Penguin shivered. But Marbles was the brains here. Tuque and Cookie were just hired muscle and they’d not lay a hand on him while Marbles was around - probably. He tapped away at the keyboard, the tiny screen illuminating his face. Surely something would crack open soon – before those heavies got too impatient and cracked him.

Vixen folded one knee over the other and leaned back. Her boots were shined to mirror polish, the ermine trim of her coat perfectly puffed up, and her lipstick exactly the right shade of scarlet. Shades lit her cigarette, and she breathed out a snaking ribbon of smoke.

With the stacks and stacks of gold behind her, the image was an absolute classic.

    “You ready, Vix?”

    “Alright then, let them in.”

Shades tipped his trademark tinted glasses over his eyes and took up his position behind her chair. Arms folded and muscles all tensed for show, he clicked the button on his communicator.

“Yess!” Penguin saw the message and punched the air. “Fetch Mr Marbles. I’ve got it!”

Cookie’s rock beat Tuque’s scissors, and the huge gangster waved his colleague away. “Go on. Fetch the boss.”

    Tuque grumbled as he went.

Marbles’ cane clicked a staccato on the vault floor, and he adjusted his top hat after negotiating the doorway.

    “Gentlemen, places!”

Tuque and Cookie took up their stances either side of their boss, and Penguin flattened himself against the wall.

“The door, if you please master Penguin.”

With one outstretched finger, the hacker completed his job, before scuttling off into the corner.

    The door swooshed open.

“Gentlemen! We are all rich me-“

    “Hello, boys.”

    “Vixen?”

“The one and same. Surprised? Oh dear me, did you really think you and your louts could pull off a bank robbery without me?” She threw her head back and laughed.

Shades allowed himself a mocking smile as he twitched and rippled his muscles.

“Now now, lady,” Marbles said as he made a few rapid adjustments to his plan and his profits. He took out his pocket watch. “This is all really interesting, but we’re on the clock here. Perhaps you wouldn’t mind if my boys and your fellow, ah, Sunglasses there, were to start the removal operation while we chat?”

    “It’s Shades, dude.”

    They ignored him.

“I thought you’d never ask! I assume you’ve not come without transport?”

“Satchel has the truck, of course. May I?” Marbles bowed and held out his arm.

Vixen unfolded her legs and sauntered to his side. “That’s what I love about you Marbles, always so willing to share.”

    “My pleasure! Now, shall we?”

His cane and her heels clicked on the vault floor.

And neither of them noticed Penguin sauntering back from the next vault along the corridor, his pockets stuffed with gems. What they didn’t notice, they couldn’t split – though that didn’t stop them accusing each other once the news aired the full scale of the robbery.

By that point, Penguin had already been forgotten.

I wish I'd thought of using the challenge words as names XD It would have saved me a lot of pain. The heist is so amusing and the character dynamics are even better.  Nice finish to a lovely month!! Congrats !!

Heh, it was the only way I could think of to use the stranger ones without having them really sick out.

Thank you!

I thought it was rather a neat idea to use the challenge words as the character names ^__^ And the characters are all so colourfully drawn ^_^

Honestly, it was the only way I could figure to used some of them without feeling really forced. Then it only seemed fair to use the rest like that too!
