Acrylic 16" x 20"
Throughout our entire history it is was always a resource game. It all started a very long time ago - to the very beginning of our flourishing civilization: One colony accrued more resources than all the others. Realizing this, they consolidated their power, passed it on to their kinship and started a dynasty.
Over time the rulers grew in arrogance and exploited the labor, resources, and the myths of the masses to control them more and more. Then demanded obedience just for being born inside their sanctimonious patch of ground. Throughout the ages, power changed hands, and the Anttars with the most resources always controlled the Anttars with less. Many denied it, and it was blindingly obvious to others, but they all had no choice but to acquiesce to the system that was inherited to them.
The rulers were also blind. Blinded by their hubris, and could not turn their gaze toward the gilded sword that was dangling above their heads. I don't know what it was. None of the survivors saw it. As far as I've been able to gather we were wiped out by some outside source! By the time we discovered the better angels of our nature it was too late and nature took us out of the resource game forever.

This is so intense and amazing - the words are poignant, unflinching in their honesty, and beautifully wrought. Β I sent a request to include this in in the Figurative folder. Β Some of your other work would fit in our group too

I like it. It's like everything is gone, but at the same time nothing was lost. When I saw the thumbnail, it looked like some kind of odd time machine for some reason, and that's what it kind of turned out to be.Β

I like it a lot. It may sound silly but it kinda reminds me of the parade scene in the movie "Paprika".

Just looked the scene up on youtube! That was really cool, a lot of stuff going on all at once. I really like that.
I'll have to watch the whole movie. Looks awesome! The movie I was thinking of before was Pom Poko.

Wow. The level of detail in this one is just mindblowing.. I love how the water kind of ties it all together and clarifies the direction the eye should go in. I love the idea of "Resource game" (would almost make a great title for this one!) because it gets at the combination of video game mentality, that sort of numbing and robotic sensation of playing in a fantasy world for too long, and the earthy, natural aspect interspersed throughout. What a powerful message, and what a powerful piece to convey it with
