So I presume you're aware of bondage. With bondage, there's a large restriction in movement in the participant tied up. I compare flattening to this as flattening is the sense of helplessness.
Just like bondage, sometimes they enjoy it, sometimes they hate it but find it lusty. It's basically cartoon bondage in short, which does sound weird saying it out loud.
