Have you ever heard of the Earthbound Halloween Hack? It's a nightmarishly-difficult ROMhack of Earthbound created by a guy calling himself Radiation. It's quite terrifying (the Desire Dog enemy is a zombie dog with a mass of wriggling tentacles for a face) and has some great original songs. My favorites are:
