Earlier this month, Mom had brought home a kitten from a surprise litter that was found near where my grandparents are living. This was the perfect opportunity to adopt a kitten since there was no charge and because my younger brother has been eager to have a pet cat for years.

So this furry bean was the odd one out of the litter; she’s the only girl and also the only black one while the other three were tabby males. After bringing her home, my younger brother suggested we refer to her as Cookie, and we all agreed it was a cute name for her.
