Description What do these characters have in common?
Well, technically lots of things.

They’re both well-loved despite their nebulous place on the good vs evil scale.
They’re both rather complex individuals that show a lot of character development throughout their given series.
They’re both foils or adversaries for the hero.
They’re both ‘rejects’ of a sort, outcasts in their own way.
They’re both often portrayed as attractive or sexy for whatever reason in fanart, despite their definite physical flaws (greasy hair and hooked nose, ugly scar!).
They both have rabid fan communities.

Communities that have been thrown into hysterics by the writers/author!

Seriously, I like both characters. But part of me can’t help but realize just how much the Avatar writers played the audience for everything it was worth for that last episode! And then I joked about how they “Pulled a Snape.”

No offense to the legions of fans out there (for which I am one)! This poorly drawn thing was just a moment of random amusement for me.

Zuko belongs to the evil Avatar creators, and Snape belongs to the evil J.K. Rowling.

What do they have in common? Other than I'm totally obsessed with both of them? Well, like you said, they really DO have a lot in common. And I know! Some how they always come out SEXY? For Zuko I blame his smokin' hot body, for Snape...I blame Alan Rickman's sexy voice and Snape's snark and wit. *sigh* Nice though, never saw these two together before. Makes me happy.

True, but in Snape's case I keep thinking he should quote Spike from the 4th season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer: "Will someone please try to remember that I hate you people?!"

Yes JK and Mike n' Bryan are evil in it's purest form! I practicly killed the TV when Zuko went evil (my little brother and sister were cracking up because they called it and I think my mom was...scared...) when Snape went evil I promptly threw away all of my Harry Potter books (I own 2 - 6) then I took them out again and decided to give JK one more chance to redeme Snape...if she doesn't...I'll write her a strongly worded leter ...that will rot in the back of my history notebook with the rest of my letters Yes I confess! I'm one of the many rabid fan girls (not for discusting reasons...THEY ARE FICTIONAL!!!) who insists that Zuko and Snape are those try-their-hardest-to-seem-evil-but-when-it-comes-right-down-to-it good guys. ZUKO WILL TURN ON AZULA AND OZI!!! SNAPE DIDN'T KILL DUMBLEDORE!!!! I'm rereading the HBP in preperation for the seventh book...although I skip anything that is boring...the memory pensive things bore me...so does a lot of it...they were great the firt time but none of the times after word...

I dunno.. my theory is that Snape really did kill Dumbledore, but it was planned. Dumbledore was a chess master, after all!

catholicchick In reply to Squeakyrat [2007-02-03 16:38:13 +0000 UTC]

yes that's very possible too...I don't think it would be that easy to kill Dumbledore is all...that is of corse unless it was planned...I've heard a lot of talk about it being planned with Dumbledore almost killing himself in that cave...HOPEFULLY it's planned...although Harry gets so blinded by anger if it was planned he'd never believe it...SNAPE IS GOOD! (I should put that in my siggy...)

The author said that Snape isn't good. *g* But He may not be completely eeeevil, either. I don't think he's a strictly black or white character, personally.

urg I am very unhappy with JK >...I still have 6 months to fanfic in my head before JK either crushes or confirms my dreams I'm hoping it's the latter...

She's the writer, and they're her characters!

Some day I might write stories or make comics of my own, if I have fans (which would be very cool), I hope they realize those characters are mine, and I get to do anything I want with them!

yah...I guess...but still...my poor little Snape ...if you don't want people speculating with your characters you'd better not leave use two years with out a book! I think it would be rather fun to have fans speculating/arguing over what my characters do show how much people love them...it's a sign of good writing...it means you bring the characters to life for the reader...a feet which I have not yet mastered...

Speculating is cool! I speculate like crazy - just so long as people don't get TOO cranky or take it too personally if the writer's ideas go against their own!

catholicchick In reply to Squeakyrat [2007-02-04 17:08:55 +0000 UTC]

yah...I hate it when people write to the author/artists of a book/TV show demanding that their ideas are put through...it drives me crazy! One of the things about speculating is to see if you can GUESS what's going to happen next! If you guessed right when you sent the letter then you're going to think you 'influenced' their disition and if you guess wrong and they go along with their own ideas you get angry! I don't even tell fan fiction writers what I think the turns should be until the story is finished! Then we have fun discussing all the different twist and turns the story could have taken!

Hmm, I definitely agree. I keep seeing so many similarities between them, especially what we know about young Snape. Nice pic!

Everyone knows that Snape is a evil Deatheater that killed Dumbaldor, there by proving his alligance to Voldimort while Zuko is a tormented man of honor, coming of age under the malicious persecution of his father. One is evil the other is tragic. So they have nothing in common.

grayburst In reply to Squeakyrat [2006-12-22 05:27:08 +0000 UTC]

Zuko is not evil..he is just a tragic man attempting to regain his honor. Snape is just evil, a true black sorcerer
