Description
"This is not the end... no, this is not the end.... We can still fight."The words echoed loosely inside his head as the armored soldier peered over the bricks, gripping his shotgun tightly, his helmet's red eyes blending with the crimson rain and fog.
The Blood Plague had crept out from the forests he was patrolling just weeks ago, and engulfed cities around the world. It consumed the rotting flesh of long-dead humans and animals.
Tendrils of blood and meat stretched across the city, slowly constricting and crushing buildings and vehicles, contracting muscles ripping them to the ground like so much cardboard and string.
The monsters were unrelenting in ways they could have never predicted, leaving the world bereft of humanity... of anything worth fighting for.
"We can still fight."
Fieldwork - This Is Not The End (Edge of Tomorrow)
The homeworld is gone, swallowed whole by the Nightmare... but the USIF's Armored Infantry are still active, still fighting, with gradually improving degrees of success. They've even managed to kill some of the Weeping Bats. A hundred thousand of these deadly warriors have been dropped to Earth with millions of soldiers beside them, and a few months later scant more than a thousand remain. Earth's population has diminished to the tens of thousands, and most of those have been evacuated to distant colonies after a rigorous decontamination exam.
It's been eight months since the last entry into the Section 8 series. I blame my apoco-vision for dying on me after Demons' Corridor ... but I've also been working on a lotta other projects, as many of you have noticed (I hope.) HOWEVER, it's come back with a hankerin' for the apocalypse, and a few metric fucktons of creepy, grotesque assets. The Section 8 soldiers have also seen a bit of buff-and-shine, as I've redone their rigging a second time and remodeled their hands, as well as added some females to the ranks. The update will go live on Workshop at uh... at some point...

I just wonder..
How are you able to make such a realistic photo with a game with 2004 graphics?

Photoshop and very careful setup.
A link to the unedited image is in the description for comparison.

I heard a version of Photoshop is free... but I don't know if it's good.

Photoshop CS2 is free, and it's very good.

One or two gigabytes. Just look it up on google and search for the Adobe.com links.
You'll have to make an Adobe account, but it's free and only takes a minute.

Holy sweet Jesus!
This is just... Sincerely, jaw dropping! I mean, the angle, that so realistic and well made lighting and that level of detail... This is simply a Masterpiece!

I always liked to think Section 8 armor was big enough to make male and female wearers indistinguishable. Trying to break the mainstream line of "armor boobs" type gear in sci-fi and fantasy.

The thing is that men and women bulk up very differently, and that having oversized armor is very uncomfortable
and can actually lead to severe problems... especially when that armor amplifies your own strength.
The standard armor is obviously male because of the very wide proportions; the muscular undersuit is designed
to mesh up with that and work concurrently with the user's actual muscle groups.
It's actually really similar to Crysis' Nanosuit, but with armor plating.
When a woman bulks up, she generally doesn't gain width like men do, and they do stay surprisingly slender in comparison.
Β You can see that if you look up female bodybuilders.
That being said, I only altered vertical and horizontal proportions for the armor, to better match female physiology compared to male.
So the female variant is basically more slender and distinguishable from the male.
The suits' breastplates were also already large enough to account for average breast sizes.

I see. I suppose as long as we're talking suits and armor, they'd work best reflecting the body type of the user's gender then.
That is until suits turn into mech-suits/walkers.

Simply stunning! Looks just like genuine hell on Earth, even Section 8 might not be able to stop it.
May I ask, what is the large guy in the background with the single eye?

They're not too terribly different than the males, just overall smaller in frame and more feminine. The armor would really cover any other distinguishing features, haha.
The Blitz soldier on the right side here is one of them.

I figured that would be how they'd look, kinda like how female Spartans are. Pretty cool though! It'll add some nice variety I think.

Yeah, just thought I'd suggest that one, as it's pretty cool. But if you wanna make your own custom armor texture, go right ahead. I'd be eager to see what you'd come up with!
