I loved the chance to try drawing a nymph of the underworld. I focused more on the belief that her flame can drive a man to insanity, bringing out their inner beast. Using the wooden roots to curl around her a little seductively. The scene is sort of like a link of the roots of trees to the Underworld where she has charge of transporting people through the Underworld. In my own interpretation she's controlling her charges through the use of her flame and waiting to take more on the passage. She's very much in charge of her world and her abilities here, appearing comfortable. She's holding the purple torch, but the wooden handle curls around her arm securely, signifying her connection with the tree and roots.
