Description
Fanart of Tear Grants and Johnny Shiden from Namco-Bandai's Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Destiny.Super old lineart:
Don't know what possessed me to color this. And then I decided to try out a new coloring style, and it ended up nothing like I had planned. >_> But um... it looks ok, right?

Aw, thanks!
Johnny is my favorite! His hi-ougi is seriously like, extreme amp attack. And Tear is most definitely love.

I think the color and the background go together quite well! Love that one's hat too, would love to take off with it. XD

I wonder how many people have tried to get ahold of it? Even if they don't show it in the games.

Yeah, it looks squeaky-clean The round highlights remind me of balloon-animals...
Very good!

Oh man, you're totally right, it does give it a balloon-animal feel.
Thanks!

Thanks! Once I was done shading I thought it might be too shiny, so... I added sparkles to the background.
At least it worked?

This looks fantastic! I honestly think the only issue is Tear's nose. Really. Her nose just looks... yuck. I think if you fixed that it'd be perfect!

Thank you!
Yeah... I'm not totally sure about the nose. It's sort of from an above/angle view, which I've never drawn before. Maybe I should go stare at my nose in the mirror for a bit to see what I should do.

Honestly, a single line would suffice in many cases.

No problem! It really does look great! I love the coloring.
Hm.. I looked through your gallery. Honestly, I notice you make a lot of your noses.... well... to be honest, awkward. Have you tried making them less round? I mean, look up samples of other art. Artists tend to make people look more perfect than people actually are. It would probably be better to look up other art rather than yourself. Girls tend to have much smaller noses. They're usually pointed instead of rounded.

Personally, I've never liked anime noses because I think they're way too pointy and small. I'd have to disagree a bit... art is an interpretation of reality, cartoons are an exaggeration of reality, and I always aim to make my art an alteration of reality... if that makes sense. Well, all my art teachers taught me to do so as well. Women's noses aren't much smaller than men's, and it sort of bothers me how society looks down on an averagely sized female nose.
Anyway, sorry for the rant, I hope it didn't come across as angry. I'm not trying to be mean, I promise! >_<

It's fine. I talk a lot too, especially when trying to get my point across. It didn't seem angry to me. You're just trying to say your opinion. And it makes sense, and honestly I support your right to have an opinion. And normally I would be all for it, if it was making the art better. But personally, I think in this drawing it just made her look manly. Maybe it's the shape, not the size, that's the problem. There are definitely ways to make a larger nose work in this picture. I would recommend, if you don't want to shrink the size of the curve, move it up. Make the tip of the nose at a /little/ bit more of an upward angle. But that's just my opinion.

Totally understandable. I fixed up her nose a bit. Though to be honest... the shape of her face is all wrong (I should have redone it before I colored it
) so it's still a bit off.

Heehee, thanks~!
Yeah, I remember I liked the lines a lot, but I spent so long on them that I didn't really feel like looking at them for a few months.
