Description
Transforming utility blade/board concept I made for a uni project.I might sprite it later on.
The omnigear has the essence of a living alien lifeform, and the 4 blades respond to the crystal which acts as a brain or nucleus. The crystal can be controlled by holding it and channeling energy

So who will use this type of weapon? Quote or another character you have?

The name "Omnigear" reminds me of Mass Effect's Omni-tools.

I'm pretty sure Irelia uses it in all the ways you list as "forms" though, including a hoverboard in her /joke.

Nope. She doesn't use any of the forms I mentioned except for the hoverboard which isn't even used practically and it's just an animation, whereas here it's the main focus. When I got my brief I wanted to make a transforming hoverboard that can transform into weapons that can be used in an action/hack and slash game and for me this was the ideal way for me to go about doing it. Sure it looks similar but it's completely different. There's a hell of a lot more development work behind this concept to justify this which I haven't posted for obvious reasons, and bear in mind this is for a university course, we aren't allowed to just rip something off.

Context is everything: you didn't post the reasons it looks the way it dose, so there is nothing backing up your claim that it's not ripping off(or at the very least heavily inspired).
If you wanted to avoid the comparison, you could have for example make it a mechanical contraption, or post it alongside additional information about the character it's used by.
As it is, it is visually and mechanically identical to what Irelia uses: a supernatural core, controlling 4 symmetrical blades.

Yeah, of course I know there's nothing to back this up as I said I'm not posting the development work for my own reasons, at least until the work is marked. That's why this argument is pretty pointless, you haven't seen the development of this concept so I don't blame you for just simply seeing it as Irelia's weapon.
Like I said, it functions completely differently. Not once has Irelia done any of this: www.dropbox.com/s/uwej6rtfum9n… (minus the hoverboard animation of course) but as I also said, she doesn't do anything with it. I took this concept, built on it and combined it with other concepts and ideas from games such as Mega Man and Sonic Riders Zero Gravity to create this. If I wasn't allowed to do this I wouldn't have wasted my time.
