Description
Two characters I developed for my screenwriting class. We weren't required to draw them, but that often helps me develop characters, so I did. I picture this as an animation, anyway. Maybe someday it'll actually come to fruition, maybe not.Should be working on this screenplay, actually, but I had to scratch the I-haven't-posted-anything-on-deviantart-recently itch. Feels good, man.
Sketched in Photoshop CS5.

Awww, they look like they would be very interesting! I especially like Pyrite's design. And neat name, hehe.

Haha thanks. The pigeon unfortunately is no longer a part of the story, but having it there says a little about Py, I guess.

I love these characters - the little one looking up to the lanky lankyness of the tall one.
Good luck with the screenplay

XD Thanks! The second draft ended up being a lot better than the first, but it's still far from functional. We're having a workshop next class so hopefully it gets better and better. If I like it well enough, I may even animate it.

quite interesting. Btw, which way are you animating them? Cuz I use Adobe-flash, the hard part is the design. Animating in flash is piece of cake
Ye I havent posted something in a big while this months 2 (college sucks)

I was planning on traditionally animating them, that is, 2D animation using animation paper and scanning them in. I would do camera movements in AfterEffects, color them in Photoshop, and everything else would be some sort of film editing software. I'm not too familiar with Flash, which is a problem I should fix, but being that it's a short film, I would have time to traditionally animate them without too much trouble.
Yeah, college will do that. I have a ton of art in my sketchbooks but no time to do a sketch dump and I've done a lot of animating but none of that I really want to post here, in case of theft. The demo reel is pretty much the artist's ticket to a career in animation, so I plan not to show anyone but possible employers.
Needless to say, I bet you're also doing a lot of work you can't post.

most of time I do a lot of work that I dont usually share in posts. Cuz is not my OWN style, but is my hand delivering odd realities.
In case of envy-hater-stealing I dont spin of it too much, my "things" are really odd that hardly could be tolen. Anyway, I`m planning to make a kind-o signature to them. College still killing me so next week I`ll work in the signature and some stuff I want to show... The odd one ofc
About Flash I suggest (suggest) to try it. You can create games and I have done a lot of them in flash with my own characters! Looking at your own work alive in a game gives the feeling of personal fulfillment So I suggest (suggest) to give it a shot.

Wow, I hadn't even considered the possibility of making games! I'd definitely utilize the web aspects of Flash, perhaps for my web comic's site. I've animated four of the characters from my comic before, though not in Flash.
Good luck with school! I hope you're able to do some creative work soon!

ye you can also do buttons, with animations for each one, and so on.
And yes! Today have approved all my signatures! So expect incoming odd stuff
btw... I`ll have some gotta celebrate HARD TONIGHT!

Omg. Those mutton chops.
And...that little button nose.
I hope I'll get to hear the story of these two.

I'm debating doing it as a comic or making that my animated project for next semester. May just animate it, if I can find some music.
Would you perhaps be willing to help me with musical compositions if I chose this story as my project for next semester?

I could definitely do that. I composed my last soundtrack, after all. However, getting the right sounds cost a bit of money. We were going to record it with real instruments, but time was pressing. So alternatively we got a sound mixer to give us synthesized, yet close to authentic sounds. I personally hate synthesized music, but it was better than I expected.

I have a music-writing software called Finale and you can export the synthesized sounds from there in an mp3. That'll work if we can't get anything real.
Thank you for volunteering to help. I won't be doing it for class, so there's practically no due date until it's finished, so we may actually be able to wait to find musicians we can pay or something. I'm sure we'll think of something. Sometimes even a simple soundtrack can be charming, and it certainly wouldn't be out of place with these characters.

Ouch. Finale is ok, but Sibelius is a better program. But on both programs the sounds are awful. Trust me, you don't want those exported files. They're crap, and they are not properly mixed. They can be transferred into Logic, which has better, more authentic sounds.

Ah, I see. Do I have to pay for Logic?
...phrasing.

Haha. Yessss. But it's better to get a professional to do the mixing for you. Mixing is too important to miss. Unless you only want to keep it as a youtube video. In that case I wouldn't bother. C:

Nice. They seem like interesting characters. I'm curious to see your animation and/or read your screenplay.
What's with the pigeon with an antenna sticking out of it's head by the way? o_O

Haha that's an idea I'm not sure I'm going to go with but we'll see. It's a carrier pigeon controlled by the antenna.
