That's the cool thing about a book, is that they can look however you picture them.

Okay, I went on such a huge Jekyll and Hyde kick because the head of the music department told us that we were going to get the rights to Jekyll and Hyde for next semester....I was massively excited to the point of it being disgusting and was working so hard for my audition....only to be told two weeks ago that we were not in fact getting the rights regardless that I had downloaded the whole show on iTunes, bought the music book AND managed to locate a copy of the legit script...You can imagine my pain XD Regardless, I took it upon myself to read The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and I remembered you doing these sketches, so I had to come take a peek again and I love you for this!! XD

Wow, oh I'm so sorry you guys didn't get to put it on. Maybe at a later date? Now you're set for whenever ANYONE ANYWHERE is putting on this musical haha.

J&H is one of my favorite stories ever. Awesome that you read it! I don't mind you coming back for a peek, not at all.

Haha my thoughts exactly, and it's sadly true XD

There are so many things I love love looooved about the book and so many things I love love loooove about the musical too. One day if I have the money I may commission you to do a somewhat sweet piece of Dr. Jekyll and Emma though...my girlfriend is going off to become a doctor and is a bit of a nut, so I've taken to calling her Henry and she's taken to calling me Emma because yeah, we ARE that disgustingly sweet together XD

squonkhunter In reply to WinterInJuly [2012-07-06 09:19:04 +0000 UTC]

Haha awww sweet! Haha my girlfriend often calls me a dandy and says that our relationship at times is rather Victorian, which is...sometimes okay and sometimes not lol. It's still funny to hear.

Hmm...you shall have to enlighten me, as I only read the book and have no idea who Emma is.

Oh gosh, that is fantastic XD I love it when couples have fun pet names for each other X3

Ooooh man, that means you've never heard or seen the musical. Emma Carew (yes, you heard the last name right XD) is actually the good doctor's fiance. Even though the musical adds a lot of romance and things that were just NOT in the book, it still does a good amount of justice to it and the music is GOOD. It's 1990's Broadway, so definitely worth the listen to!

Haha okay, I've looked for it before and wasn't able to find anything full, just in odd segments. I have no idea where to start, really.

Awww you know, I always wanted him to have a romance. Poor lonely thing.

Haha yeah, she calls me a dandy and sometimes I call her "my sweet cinnamon," which I found was an actual term of endearment in Middle English, since about two semesters ago I took a Chaucer class. I also call her "my lady bright," which is also from Middle English and is often used to rhyme with "knight." X) Or sometimes I just call her "monkey." Because it sounds cute. When I call her monkey, she calls me "duck." Lol I'll stop, because honestly, we're getting too cute, and my head just might explode.

Well, you can still listen to the actual soundtrack for starts, and I know you can find that on youtube, so the hunt is worth it! There are also some good clips from some of the big songs. I am a bit of a Deviant Art idiot so I can't really figure out how to make links XD But here is Take Me As I Am from the original cast, which is a duet between Emma and Henry: [link] Other good ones to look for are This Is The Moment (which has been used a LOT so you might already know it), In His Eyes (a duet between Emma and Lucy, who in real short is another woman who is in love with Dr. Jekyll but Hyde is after), and Once Upon a Dream is another song that Emma sings to Henry.

And yeah, he still dies in the musical, but Emma is with him...but you still end up going OH GOD WHYY!?!?!?! XD

XD That is all so adorable!!! I think my head popped from the cute! Sounds like you two have been together a while! XD I shall share too so we can both have diabetes together! Mine calls me her "Emma" and I call her "Henry" (and when you see the video you'll see how teeth rotting they can be), she also calls me her "Squish," or "Love Dove," and I occasionally call her "Pook Pook." Ah, and she took to calling me her "Angel of Music." Sooo...there. Now we're even! lol

squonkhunter In reply to WinterInJuly [2012-07-09 07:35:23 +0000 UTC]

Wow, that was pretty! Now I'm interested in the story of the musical, since it's so different. I like the idea of a love interest. Raises the stakes.

We've been together almost a year, but we were best friends for a year before that. Haha oh man, we're just getting so much diabetes up in here! "Squish" kills me! Haha awww you guys. That's adorable. XD

Definitely check it out! It really does the book justice even though a good chunk of plot is added, and I'm curious what you think because you're such a big fan of the book.

Dawww! That's exactly how my girlfriend and I came into our relationship too XD It really helps having been friends for a while first, or at least I've found that! And seriously, if you go on my page and look at the Trauma Center cosplay photos I just added, that's me and her. It's disgusting XD

squonkhunter In reply to WinterInJuly [2012-07-09 19:34:21 +0000 UTC]

I'll definitely check it out, I've been meaning to.

Lol that's so cute! Yes, I think it's very important to have been friends first. Then you have that support you need. You can be the lover when the lover is needed, and the best friend when that's needed. XD

Haha exactly! And we know each other so well because of it...TOO well I think sometimes XD But I think that's also the joy of it -- we're not joined at the hip, we're joined in the brain!

squonkhunter In reply to WinterInJuly [2012-07-10 01:34:34 +0000 UTC]

Haha us too. Sometimes we end up coordinating outfits, only no one planned anything, it just happens. In fact, that's the only way we ever end up matching, and we end up matching a lot. XD Sometimes we joke that we're turning into each other.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WinterInJuly In reply to squonkhunter [2012-07-10 02:44:51 +0000 UTC]

XD Hahaha yes, linked in the brain! Sometimes two people just really get each other and then POOF! Magic! You are the same person! XD We often end up opening our mouths to speak and say the exact same thing the exact same way. It's hysterical.

Saw this in the Daily Mirror today and thought of you (and Clive! LOL):

"A macabre Victorian vampire-slaying kit sold for £7,500 at auction. Inside the mahogany box was a mallet and four stakes, a pistol, rosary beads, prayer book, holy water, holy earth, garlic and a crucifix. A woman inherited the kit from her uncle and is said to have sold it to a museum. Tennants Auctioneers of Leyburn, North Yorkshire said:
'it's extremely interesting"

I'll say!

Haha we used to say "O.M.G." here, but that fad's gone. Teenagers do say "Ew! So uggs!" if they mean that something is hideous or distasteful. That's one my sister surprised me with and made me feel old. "Reem!" haha how do you use that?
