Description Two characters from different Mozart operas, Don Giovanni from "Don Giovanni" (or "Il Dissoluto Punito" - 1787) and Papageno from "Die Zauberfloete" ("The Magic Flute" - 1791). These are two very different operas, style-wise, but they're both amazing and I can't stop listening to either of them.
Hmm. Papageno's pose is very Tull-like. Inspired by Ian Anderson and his crazy flute skills.

And now for some Deutschaliano:
Don Giovanni beva il vino e Papageno spielt die Pfeifen.
Drawn 30 July 2010.

I love the Don Giovanni piece! The character himself makes me laugh, and how you portray him almost fits how I imagined him! He just exudes absolute smarm. XD

Don Giovanni is spot on character wise. His flamboyant, arrogant character is wonderfully emulated Really lovely work and interpretation of both characters!

Totally freaking awesome. Love your style, love the attitude, and I love how lively these two are-- nice poses, especially, and you have mastered the art of drawing clothing folds to an extent I can only dream of. Great job! Papageno is my very favorite Mozart character.

By the way, I wanted to let you know that Feruccio Fulranetto is going to be in "Don Carlo" with Dmitri Hvorostovsky next month... it's one of the New York Met's simulcast operas. Have you been to any of those?

No, I haven't. Is he really? It's awesome that he's still performing.

You totally should! They're a lot of fun. Just a little while ago in April I saw "Il Trovatore." It was great!

At that website, you can check out their season schedule and find theaters near you that play the simulcasts... And next month, you can go see Signore Furlanetto!

Really?? That's very strange! Well, PBS plays them on TV too, and on the date of the performance, you can listen to them on your local NPR radio station...

these characters are very crisply drawn - im no expert on opera myself, but i imagine they embody the emotion... im always a fan of line art and this style looks wonderful.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words.
Don Giovanni is a Spanish womanizer readying himself to pray upon the local Italian women and Papageno is a cautious bird catcher.
