Born and raised in Seajewel, Delshad took an interest in magic young, and tormented his friends and family with his impromptu shows and sleight-of-hand-pranks. His parents insisted he stay in school with the Merchant's guild, so that he could eventually take over their funeral business. Rather than quelling his love of performance, the Merchant's guild gave Delshad the soft management tools to run a business, while he used his parent's workshop to build increasingly elaborate props and sets for his slowly evolving 'hobby'. Slowly, he started to make a modest side-income. Not enough to quit his day job, but just enough to make him hungry for more. Eventually, he was noticed by The Fourth Guild, and a partnership began.
While never a full-fledged member, there were perks involved with the guild. For what, at the time, seemed a modest trade-off, Delshad would transport 'goods' in his trick boxes and secret compartments to various locations in Scatterstar, where lodgings and well-paid performances were waiting for him. Sure, there were tense moments in receiving and delivering the goods, but those were small prices to pay for getting to see the world in comfort, style, and the racous applause of stranger. He wasn't stupid, he knew exactly what he was doing- he just didn't care, and didn't see the harm.
And then, tragedy struck- both of his parents passed in quick succession, leaving Delshad in charge of his younger brother. A younger brother who was just as excited to see the world as he had been, and so for a little while, they travelled together. It was when Berlioz started to catch the real interest of the Guild, and show an interest in turn, that Delshad realized that, perhaps, this wasn't the best environment for a young curio to be raised in.
Of course, no one just leaves the Guild. Especially not someone who knows all the supply routes and dealers. No promise is ever good enough to be believed, and the cursed jar left to shatter in one of his trick-boxes was both a warning and a promise. With the rise in anti-possession sentiments, and unsure what the guild might try next, Delshad packed up his brother and moved to the bog to figure out his next steps.
It's definitely a temperary measure.
