Description Stainless steel e4-1 construction using 5/16in 16ga rings, straps and underwire are hp3-1, using 16ga 5/16in, 16ga 3/8in, and 18ga 3/16in (for the thong string) rings. Lined in 'gold' colored aluminum.

I'm really quite proud at how nice this turned out. The bottom is supposed to be a chastity belt, hence the lock.

This was a commissioned piece.

Heh, yeah the lock-and-chain arrangement kinda gave the intended use away. *wink and a nudge*

I like the "gold"-lined accents on this. They really brighten it up.

That's certainly one tease of a chastity belt, though! I do like how the lock sits at the hip.

Thanks!
The gold trim was the client's idea, I hope they like it too. And I'm happy about the placement of the lock as well. The aesthetic of the lock is just as important as anything else and what's the point if it's not seen?

That chastity belt makes me think of things that are notably not chaste . Lol, nice work though!

Hey, just because it's chaste doesn't mean it can't be fun!

Good point, and beautiful work too. I wish I knew how to work with metal.

Beautifully done, both top and bottom. I might suggest trying rubber rings in strategic parts of the straps to enhance the fit, especially snugging the top and the bottom to the person. Works very well with all my bikini sets.

Hm... I like that suggestion alot. But, those straps are made with 3/8in rings. We chose that size and that weave because the clasp we use can go right through the strap itself. With rubber rings I'd have to go down to 5/16in rings...

What exactly do you do then? Do your clasps have specific male/female ends? Or do you use clasps that fit through the 5/16in rings? Now that I think about it, I've never noticed clasps in any photos of your bikinis or bottoms.

I could see possibly using the 5/16in closer to the body of the piece, but then gradating out to 3/8in...

For this particular commission we actually offered to use rubber rings for that exact purpose, but they specifically requested all steel. Plus... I'm pretty sure that comfort wasn't the idea

You don't see the hooks I use because I try to make sure they're hidden in the outfit. I like a clean look that doesn't show the structure that makes it work. *grin*

The hooks I use are curl-ended, flat steel hooks that grab rings easily but not poke the wearer. However, when possible, I eliminate hooks by integrating rubber rings to make it stretch enough to get around body parts and them pull in comfortably tight to the wearer. In bikini tops, that means no hooks and some rubber rings in the top strap and a single hook and some rubber rings in the back strap. Both provide enough stretch to pull it tight to the person so it fits much like the cloth-equivalent, but I have to put a hook in the back strap because I haven't found a way to get it stretchy enough to get around head, shoulders and arms without using rubber throughout the strap...and it makes it easier for the wearer to simply unhook the top from the cup.

What're your thoughts on making the bra hook in the front?

ChaynLynx In reply to SR388 [2007-11-30 15:18:51 +0000 UTC]

Hmmmm...no reason why that wouldn't work. Not a bad idea, either, so long as the hooks are well-disguised, strong and have no sharp points or edges. That's not a bad idea at all.

I understand customers and custom orders. Still, if you're ever in need of rubber rings matched sizes other than 1/4" and 5/16", find a rubber 'O' ring manufacturer online or local and see if they'll sell you a batch of rings to size.

That's what TRL started with; O rings that were used in plumbing fixtures to provide tight waterproof seals to prevent leaking around joints and outlets. Companies that make them use the same gauge and measurements used for jump and chainmaille-quality rings, so it's possible to find 3/8" diameter rubber rings in 12, 14, 16 and 18 gauges, though you'll probably find them only in black.

I'll see if I can find the links I used to have to an online outfit that will sell a pound or two of the appropriate rings.

Yeah, I understand they're basically rubber o-rings for plumbing. I hadn't thought of asking a company to make a batch of the proper size, though. Some links would definitely be appriciated, I'm super lousy at finding that sort of thing!

If you like, I could scrounge up a few web addresses for online companies that can help you out. You don't even have to ask them to make 'em special - you just order a batch of the appropriate size and they ship 'em out.

I'll dig up those links and kick them out to you. *smile*
