I've always loved the Periodic Table of Elements...and I used to look for things like this all the time. Congratulations on the Daily Deviation...it's well deserved

If I could, I'd buy this and put it in my binder. It'd give me something cool and distracting to look at during Mr. Mykytuk's freakishly boring lectures. -Good GOD I almost fell asleep on Friday- And it's not like it isn't educational!! XD

They get better as time goes on though.

This is really exceptionally well done! As a fractalist that holds a masters in chemistry (Ph.D. in mathematics) this really hits home. I just wish back in the stone age when I went to school I would have had such a TOTALLY bitchin' table to learn from!

Copy Carbon: It's so... so beautiful.

Oh, just ignore him. He has this thing about periodic elements.

mariepb In reply to ??? [2008-09-21 03:15:29 +0000 UTC]

Oh my goodness!!! I can't even imagine how long it would have taken you just to THINK of how to create all of those individually!! Let alone actually creating them. It's amazing! I bet you now know more about every single element than you ever thought you would (I also think it's neat and rare that you have commented every single person back )

Anywho, these are amazing! Each and every one of them is beautiful Congrats!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sragets In reply to mariepb [2008-09-21 18:43:05 +0000 UTC]

Thank you. That was one of my goals in this project: to learn more about each of the individual elements as I worked with them.

I really appreciate the fact that people have taken a few minutes to view this work, and to leave their thoughts, so even though it's taken quite a bit of my time, I wanted to give attention to each of them and express that appreciation.
Thanks again!

This would be a great addition to any chemistry classroom. Brilliant work! It must have been time consuming creating all of the fractals. You defiantly earned your Daily Deviation.

amaaaaaaaaazing.
possibly the most deserving DD yet...what a fantastic piece! the time and effort that has goe into this really shows. if they had this on the wall in high school instead of a boring periodic table i daresay i would have paid more attention!
congratulations both on completeing this and receiving a DD

I've always wished the table was a bit more colorful.
It certainly would hold students attention longer!

wegs In reply to ??? [2008-09-21 02:27:32 +0000 UTC]

Very cool idea! I love chemistry ~

Although, visually, I think it would be more effective without the blue fractal in the background. It's kind of distracting...

but still, very cool.

sragets In reply to wegs [2008-09-21 02:32:27 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much.

I've had that mentioned several times.
When I first conceived the idea (the fractal in the background), it seemed great, but perhaps a darker background, or one less obtrusive would be best.

This is very pretty!

But where are the Lanthanoids and Actinoids? You have La and Ac where Lu and Lr should be. I'm by no means trying to nit-pick or be negative. I'm just curious as to why there are elements missing.

I can only imagine how much work went into this piece and it was worth it

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

sragets In reply to TheShiny [2008-09-21 02:01:54 +0000 UTC]

Ah. I understand what you mean.

They are there underneath as normal, however the periodic tables I referenced were all different.
I would have done it the way you mentioned, but I was already about 75% of the way through putting it together when
I recognized that there were actually differences in the tables! So I left it the way the original table I was using had them
set up.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheShiny In reply to sragets [2008-10-05 17:28:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, at that point it's probably easiest to just carry on as is. Once I looked at it more closely I saw where everything was I'm just used to seeing it I guess the Canadian way? I don't know if there's differences by country! lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

TheShiny In reply to TheShiny [2008-09-21 02:00:42 +0000 UTC]

I just realised where they are. I'm so sorry I should have looked more closely first. The colours and fractals made it hard for me to follow it.
