My entry for toycake 's Sugarpom contest!
I had a hard time choosing between drawing the princess or the kingdom, but in the end it came down to time!
In this design she is a feathered sugar bat! The "crystals" are rock candy(which is just about pure sugar). The sparkles all around her are sprinkles of sugar.

I have a recipe for rock candy on a stick if you want it!

Will take about a day:
Materials
1 cup water (240 ml)
2 1/2 cups (600 ml) sugar
Pan
Stirring spoon
See-through, heatproof glass container
A wooden stick (popsicle sticks work)
Plate
Scissors
Disposable plastic lid (like the snap-on kind from margarine tubs)
Procedure:
1.) Put 1 cup (240 ml) water and 2 1/2 cups (600 ml) of sugar into a pan, stir to mix everything together.
2.) Put pan on stove, bring liquid to a gentle simmer. Let it simmer for 30 minutes or so, stirring occasionally.
3.) Pour the hot liquid into the glass container. Don't kill yourself Srinitybeast-sama-senpai-goshuji-sama
4.) Dip the stick into the hot liquid, and the part dipped will turn into sugar candy, so don't drop it in. Take it out and set on plate to dry.
5.) When dry, take scissors and poke a small hole in the middle of the plastic lid- it needs to support the stick and not be too big. If you have a giant container and a giant lid, poke lots of holes, but space them about 3cm apart. Push the clean end through the hole, so you don't get sticky lid and less candy.
6.) Set the lid on top of the glass container so the sugary part hangs into the hot sugary liquid.
Results in a day or so!
If you want to colour them, colour them when they are crystalized and use gel colouring.
