I love this style. It reminds me of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride. And also the cartoon Nemi

Actually, I think I only used 2 pens for all of these ones....and the one that ran out, ran out on charlie, the 3rd one. Really nice pens with true black ink. Papermate. I like them anyway, they flow nicely.

its like a book illustration! its very, very good! in my studies i'm quite having some difficulties in using ballpoint pens for artwork (i get crappy grades from it!).

yes there's a vague burton-esque feel to it, but come on people, the man doesn't OWN stripes does he?.... I think it has more of a slightly disturbing french-canadian feel to it.... like one of those creepy abstract childrens cartoons they used to make in the late 80's/early 90's....... bellisimo

Thanks for your comment. That is SO cool! Is it Tim Burton inspired, perchance?

I had to make a series of 8 peices in 3 days. It just came from mind. Annie was the first, messing around trying my hand at pen. I wanted to use a medium I've never used before. I started with stripes because I love stripes. I wear striped socks/stalkings everyday, I have striped suspenders, and striped sweaters. I like stripes. The stripes from the first one made me imagine this one. I actually started this before I was done the first one. I pictured a little..doll thing slowly shuffling down the stripe to get to the cat (where the dol would then give it a bear hug). The cat knows the doll is there but chooses to be ignorant. It might have been inspired by burton..but as far as I know it wasn't.
