Description
Just a sketch of an old man resting in the darkness holding his lantern. I found an old sketch book and became inspired to work with black paper once again. The concept of this drawing was actually brought on with the idea that I just wanted to have the subject off-centered towards the bottom of the paper, with the light source visible to the viewer. Hence, an old man holding a lantern.Done with a Prismacolor colored pencil Warm Grey 30%, with a Prismacolor colored pencil white for the highlights.

Thanks for the compliment. I strongly suggest you try it out. I always have a blast working like this because it really forces you to think differently about the drawing. Instead of drawing in the shadows you need to focus on the light source and just draw in the highlights. It's a lot of fun!
