My theory is that Maahes, my king, is the jealous twin brother of Apedemak. They both set out with similar intentions, however due to the fact that Apedemak is better known, Maahes grew jealous. Apedemak's ego drove Maahes to murderous intents, selecting only certain lionesses to serve under his rule in his pride. Any other lionesses he stumbles upon in his territory whom he does not feel fit for his pride end up being captured and killed, sometimes eaten by this cannibalistic king.
