First and most important tip I'd give you is to make a 'mold' of the armor on yourself with celophane plastic and tape, I've captured the entire process of making the armor on pic and uploaded it here. So you can see what I mean.
Than just get some good eva-foam (this one was high density)

I already made the mold in class at school I just wanted to know what kind of fabric I might need

This one is made out of high density eva-foam. It's relatively 'cheap' and easy to craft with.for adhesive I used extremely strong one named contact cement... And the paintjob is done acrylics paint. For some handy videos on working woth eva foam I'd advise you to look up kamui cosplay on youtube. I learned a lot from her
Also, I dunno where you're from but we've got a very good shop here in belgium that sells all these materials, and they ship worldwide. If you want I can send you the url
