Description
Decorative filework on the tangs of blades or jimping is more of a 16th century and later fashion, but Zakovsky shows a 15th century piece as well in his dissertation and the buyer asked me to implement it for his project. The shapes are much simpler than the later ones would become, but it's still pretty cool I think. Especially with the brass inlay, again, based on the the dissertation piece.

This view also shows the brazing seams on the pommel. As I wanted to keep the overall look as close to the painting as possible, I had to make a large and flat pommel - which, if it were solid, would've made the piece unusably hilt-heavy. Therefore the pommel is hollow, constructed from 2mm thick steel sheet.
