That is a detail I went back-and-forth on. It's intended to make the tabs look like they are clear plastic and stick on the card rather than being part of the same piece. When I took it off the card seemed a bit blank. It is only visible on the 96x96, 128x128, and 256x256 sizes. The smaller sizes don't have it.
