In 2255 Captain Laura Black arrives in the shuttle bay of her ship ISS MARAUDER to meet with the personnel chosen to board the alien ship. Assembled in the shuttle bay is Lt. Maya Santiago and her security unit. My OCs by www.deviantart.com/s2ka .

Unable to beam a team onto the mammoth alien vessel, Captain Black has opted to send a heavily armed raiding party in a shuttle craft over to it. They will gain access by way of what appears to be exhaust vents on the rear section of the ship. The team will cut through the relatively thin hull plating in that area by space walking on it and using a high powered drill. The shuttle will 'dock' with the vessel by forming a temporary docking ring enabling the team to board the vessel. Once aboard the ship the raiding party will hunt down the rebels who have managed to hide there and eliminate them. Another team will beam over to the shuttle, enter the alien ship, deploy transport enhancers, and search for valuables. All riches will then be transported to the MARAUDER'S hold.

Lt. Maya Santiago, the MARAUDER'S head of security, stands at the head of her unit. The crew talks amongst themselves as they help the five team members chosen to board the alien vessel first with their gear. Those soldiers have donned the black EV suits for wear during the space walk and initial boarding the ship because atmospheric conditions there are not known. Emblazoned on the breastplates of these suits is the 'Red Death's Head' insignia of Captain Black's ISS MARAUDER'S raiding teams. The 'Red Death's Head' was selected by Laura Black back when she was the commander of ship's security and personally led all raiding parties. The insignia was chosen to strike fear in the hearts of their victims and denote the wearers as members of an elite unit. Captain Nelson Rogers, Laura Black's predecessor and mentor approved the use of the insignia and it has been in use since.

The shuttle bay's inner doors open as Captain Laura Black strides through them. Her confident swagger and expression immediately draw all eyes upon her as the crew snaps to attention when their captain enters the bay.

"Attention! Captain on deck!" Maya Santiago shouts in her trademark booming voice.

Laura's sly smile crosses her lips as she gazes upon her troops. She had led them only months before, been one of them, trained every one of them, before becoming captain of the MARAUDER. She knows every one of them well, and they know her. A bond has been forged between them in blood and battle. During countless missions aboard enemy ships, battles on alien planets, and bloody raids on enemy stations. She has more than once led them to victory and riches. She has saved the lives of many of them and she has their undying loyalty, as they have hers. Laura Black is closer to these soldiers than to any on board the MARAUDER.

Maya Santiago who now leads this unit and was Laura's hand picked assistant. More than the the others, her loyalty to the captain burns the hottest. Her eyes shine with intense devotion bordering fanatical as she watches her leader approach. Laura Black had saved Maya's life during a particularly bloody mission, carrying the severely injured larger woman over a kilometer to safety.

"As you were," Laura commands. "Report, lieutenant Santiago!"

Maya steps forward and salutes her captain. The lieutenant is several inches taller than Laura and much more muscular. A product of Terran genetic engineering at its best.

"The raiding party stands ready, Captain. .." Maya says. "They have been carefully selected and are best suited for this mission."

Laura returns Maya's salute and nods approvingly at the lieutenant. She turns her gaze toward the assembled soldiers, especially the raiding party. With her hands at her sides she addresses the entire unit.

"You all know that those rebels we were persuing have somehow taken refuge on this alien ship..." Laura says. "I am charging you with the task of breaking into that ship, finding them, and eliminating them. After that, we'll plunder that vessel of all of its treasure, if there is any, giving the Empire its tribute.. but after taking our fair share!"

The Terrans begin cheering and whistling their approval of the captain's plan, especially the part of splitting the spoils. As commerce raiders, these soldiers are used to getting a 'cut' of the plunder that they take from enemy commerce shipping and trade outposts. Similar to the ancient Privateers from Terra's age of sail, some Imperial Starfleet ships have been tasked by the Emperor and Senate to raid the shipping of neighbouring space faring powers and any other non Terran controlled worlds. These ships range far an wide raiding and their captains and crew grow rich in the process.

"The raiding party will stay in constant contact with the bridge..." Laura continues. "Lt. Santiago will issue video cameras to each raiding party member. I want to monitor your progress. After you've eliminated the rebels, I'll send over another team with transporter enhancers and set them up. We'll start searching for whatever riches we can plunder. After that it's on to destroy the rebel base in this sector so that we can get back to raiding some commerce!"

The soldiers cheer again and stamp their feet in unison, a sign of their motivation....

"Now carry on! And I wish you success!" Laura concludes her speech.

Laura motions for Maya to step forward and follow her as the others continue their preparations.

"How's your interrogations coming along?" Laura asks in lower tones. "Have our prisoners given you any useful information so far?"

Maya walks over to her captain and the two officers walk slowly towards the exit. The lieutenant towers over her captain so she bends down slightly to converse in low tones.

"I've managed to coax some information about the base from them.." Maya reports. "I had just finished sending that information to Commander Alexander on the bridge. My people are starting to ask about other things now..."

Laura smiles wolfishly in approval again at Maya's report. The lieutenant's thoroughness never fails to impress the captain.

"Very good, Maya" Laura says. "Get whatever else you can from them then have fun disposing of them. I'm heading to my quarters for a minute then back to the bridge. Contact me there later..."

"Yes Captain!" Maya replies, saluting.

She turns, quickly heading back to the shuttle bay.

Laura enters the turbolift and grabs the control handle, her mind turning to other matters...

"Deck 5" she says as the doors close behind her......
