Description
Rear-Admiral T'Var, shown here in a stylized anniversary poster for Starfleet in the year 2316. T'Var was chosen for this honor because at this time she was one of the longest serving Starfleet officers. She has served for sixty years by this time. My OC by www.deviantart.com/thadrobeck .In 2316 Rear-Admiral T'Var has been the commander of Spacedock Earth, or Earth Spacedock, for six years. She also teaches several courses at Starfleet Academy part time. T'Var is also one of the most highly decorated officers in Starfleet at this time, the Federation Medal of Honor being one of the many decorations she was awarded during her long service. She is well respected by her peers and highly regarded by both the Klingon and Romulan Empires. She was selected for this important command because of her past experience as a line officer and two tours assigned to the 40 ERIDANI SHIPYARDS at Vulcan. Her calm demeanour, ability to work well in high stress situations, diplomatic ability and great organizational skill made her the best candidate for the job.
Rear-Admiral T'Var is married to long retired Vice-Admiral Solomon Cooper and is the mother of three adult children. Two sons and a daughter, none of them have chosen a career in Starfleet. Her children, half Vulcan, half human, were raised in the Vulcan culture and traditions as Vulcans. They all have careers of their own, her two sons are married and are raising their families on Vulcan. T'Var's daughter is working as a terraforming scientist for the United Federation of Planets.
These years are transitional for T'Var. She has gone from a line officer serving on starships, eventually commanding one, to flag rank with all of its duties and responsibilities. Now she is in command of a vital installation with a crew complement of 76,625 (crew, civilians and transients). She is responsible for the area space traffic for the Sol star system as well as starship maintenance, construction, and decommissioning. On any given day there might be several thousand travellers, Starfleet and civilian, passing through the Spacedock as well as up to a dozen starships within its giant doors. T'Var is responsible for all of it.
Rear-Admiral T'Var would command Spacedock and later McKinley Station from 2310 to 2321 when she would be promoted to Vice-Admiral and assigned to Starfleet Headquarters as Deputy Chief of Exploration. She would serve in that capacity until 2339 when she would be transferred to the new Federation starbase near the Argolis Cluster, Starbase 211. At the time, this facility was the furthest Federation base in this area of the Alpha Quadrant. Starbase 211 is located near the border of the Cardassian Union or Cardassian Empire as it is also known.
As part of her duties, Vice-Admiral T'Var is in command of all Starfleet deep space probes, manned and unmanned, as well as over seeing the new Federation colonies that have been settled on the class M planets in the nearby solar systems. In 2347 one of those colony worlds, Setlik 3 was attacked by the Cardassians and the Federation settlers were massacred. Vice-Admiral T'Var over saw the investigation into the attack and sent a detailed report back to Starfleet Command. After another attack on a neighboring colony world was repulsed a few weeks later, a state of war now existed between the United Federation of Planets and the Cardassian Empire.
Vice-Admiral T'Var was formally promoted to full Admiral later in 2347 and placed in overall command of the Starfleet forces assigned to the conflict. In a few months, T'Var and the officers under her command were able to beat back several more Cardassian attacks and launch a few offensives of their own. Several notable officers served under her command at this time, many of them would achieve flag rank in the future. Officers like, Rear-Admiral Owen Paris, Rear-Admiral T'Lara, Rear-Admiral Charlie Whatley, Captain William Ross, Captain Alynna Nechayev, Captain Benjamin Maxwell, and Fleet Captain JP Hanson. Commander Jean Luc Picard would assume commad of the USS STARGAZER and later be sent by Admiral T'Var, on the orders of the Federation Council, to offer a truce to the Cardassians, but his ship would be fired upon.
T'Var would over see the major part of this conflict until 2356 when the war began to sputter out, devolving into spurrattic border clashes. During her tenure as theater commander, she gained the unofficial nick name, 'The Fighting Vulcan'.
