Nice catch my dear friend! They look like sparrows, aren't they? In Paris there was a lot of them, but in a few decades their numbers have melted dramatically, only pigeons remain mostly. It is the same in many other big cities, like London, UK where sparrows are now “red-listed” as a species of high conservation concern, as well as other once common bird species. There are reports of birds coming back thanks to the lockdowns, but it should remain anecdotal.

As for the birds, in France, UK, Germany, North and South America, in the countryside there is a collapse of bird populations (-80% in some areas), and even worse of insects, which is all the more problematic as young birds feed on insects and therefore depend on them. It endangers the reproduction of plants also, since birds and insects play an important role there.
