Description
Scaeden sat in the coliseum, waiting for the others to arrive. They had all agreed that today would be the day they got some training in for the apprentices, but little did they know, Scaeden had a different plan. One by one, the other cats came. Aryin, Drusa, Alucard, Maroo, Shadow, and Juno. When they were all gathered, Scaeden stood with a mischievous smile towards the four apprentices.

“I know you thought we were going to be learning some fighting moves today, but this is not the case,” Scaeden announced. The apprentices looked at each other, and Aryin and Drusa just looked surprised.

“But..I thought this was supposed to be a training session,” the young tiger, Alucard piped.

“It is,” Scaeden replied. “But not a normal one. I want you four to work together to try to capture me, figuratively. For the next few days, Drusa, Aryin, and I will be on a sort of patrol together. Just like a border patrol the Empires would go on, except we will be staying within the city limits. I want you four to strategize and come up with a way to capture me, the target. Aryin and Drusa will be around as my fellow patrol members, and you will have to end up fighting them to get to me.”

He padded away from the group and stretched. “Any questions?”

“Wait, wait,” Maroo said, stepping forward, her brows pulled together. “You’re not going to give us…any instructions? None at all?”

“Oh, of course!” Scaeden said, looking back at them. “Juno, since you are the most experienced apprentice, you will be the leader of this Hunt. You can come up with all the strategies and stuff.”

“What?” Juno exclaimed, jumping to her paws and giving Scaeden a look of surprise. “Wait, this is actually a real thing? Like…we’ll be full-on Hunters for the next few days, and you’ll be some Empire gladiators?”

“Precisely!” Scaeden cried out with a grin. “You’re all catching on so fast. I’m proud of you.” He turned to the two senior Hunters. “So what do you say? We ready to go check out the parameters?”

Aryin and Drusa both agreed, and with one more amused glance at the apprentices, they ran off.
“It’s been two days,” Aryin complained in her monotone voice. “When do you expect these apprentices to come and find us?”

“Haven’t you been seeing them around?” Scaeden asked her. “They’ve been watching us. And it’s becoming more and more frequent. I would hope that they’d be coming around soon.” He hopped down from the box he was perched on and smiled. “Besides. Are you that sick of me already?”

“I could go for a little time with less Scaeden,” Drusa added. They were all resting around in an alley filled with junk. The air was becoming colder. Scaeden could see his breath sometimes.

“Either way,” Scaeden continued, ignoring Drusa’s comment. “I think they’ll be coming soon.”

As the sun began to set, they decided to take a quick nap before continuing on their “patrol”. Scaeden layed down on the ground, in the middle of the alley. Aryin hopped up onto an awning and curled up, while Drusa climbed into a nearby building through the open window where it was nice and dark. Scaeden’s eyes had just barely begun to shut when he noticed something.

There was the ever-so-faint scritch on wood behind him. Claws. Then the rustle of fur moving closer, and paws hitting the stone walls of the buildings. The apprentices. They thought he was asleep, and they probably didn’t even know Aryin and Drusa were even around. But knowing the two Hunters, they were fully aware of the apprentices’ presence. He let his eyes open a crack and his mouth twitched up into a smile. They had done pretty well, for apprentices. Pretty silent. But just from what he could hear, he could tell that someone was on top of the wooden box, and another cat had hopped onto the window frame, and a third was walking closer to him.

Scaeden let his muscles tense up, ready to spring up and fight, and waited for the interesting fight that was sure to come.
