I know the bird is supposed to be a Nightengale, but I ended up coloring it as a robin... sorry. :<

Some clean-up in photoshop, trying to make it look more like it does IRL (it scanned horribly) and fixing a couple wax particles, mostly from my scanner bed.
Critique on the coloring is always greatly appreciated.

Wow! This looks pretty darn spiffy for having used crayons. The waxy buildup adds some great texture on the bird's breast and the leaves, and it made the rose petals look really soft. I think the only real problem is the crayons themselves--you can't cover up all the white spots caused by the tooth of the paper, and you can't really build up a lot of value like you can with colored pencils. If it were possible, I'd say add some darker purple to the shadows of the rose; it would really bring out the bright midtone areas. Good work!

That is cool. Haha, I'm working on coloring this exact lineart right now...although my shading is completely crack since I neglected to look at a reference. I'm using marker and colored pencils but I saw your crayon tutorial and I might try to use those on another piece at some point...traditional "kids" media doesn't get enough love.
I absolutely adore how you've shaded this, particularly the top bud and the bird itself. It sucks that your scanner brought down the quality level, I hate it when that kind of thing happens!
