Description This is a redesign of Aku from Samurai Jack.

It was done for the 84th 2d Drawing Jam [link] on CGHub.

The brief was to take a super villain and redesign them but bring them into reality, like the Christopher Nolan Batman movies.

It was lots of fun to do; Samurai Jack is one of my favourite cartoons.

Took about 12hours over a few nights.

This is my absolute favorite Human!Aku design, hands down

You're quite welcome! Not only am I a big fan of his, but rarely do I ever gush over artwork haha

I was going to draw this design earlier this past weekend, when I was practicing, but I wasn't satisfied with the outcome. I may attempt it later on, though.

this is great. i absolutely love how you managed to include every aspect of his cartoon design into it. like the shoulders and calf...cape...thing. seriously.

the little samurai jack statuepiece is a nice touch as well.

So, I remember when this show first came on the air when I was 11. To this day it is my favorite cartoon and I deeply appreciate your interpretation of Aku. If you do anything else inspired by the show I will definitely check it out.

There have been several attempts to make said movie. The problem as always is funding among other things. That and Mako died, 6 1/2 years ago. So they need somebody to voice aku. However there is still talk of it being made as of mid 2012.

Hi, yes definitely a fun one to do! I try to do them whenever I get some spare time, it's a great way to practice and be inspired by other people. I'm finding it odd too that it hasn't gone to voting mode yet. Maybe they think there aren't enough entries or something. It's weird though.

A Nolan-esque Samurai Jack movie would probably be the greatest film ever made. What a perfect design! The shogun mask/helmet, the military influences, hints of a business suit...this completely captures his character! It's so accurate, and well-painted too!
