Description I always found it strange that whenever Merlin shouted for the dragon, literally no-one hears him.
I mean he like shouts his head off (which always makes me die in a fit of giggles) in this odd language, and no one even turns a head...
Just me..? Noo...

And yes, this is what I think Arthur would say if he heard this, because he's so oblivious its getting ridiculous.
*SPOILERS SERIES 5*
I mean how can he not suspect that Mordred has magic?? asdfghjkl OH ARTHUR he's just King of Obliviousness this series.
And last series. And the one before that. x'DD

Sorry there's been so much Merlin in my gallery recently - I've been on a Merlin rampage! Aaah I'm loving Saturday nights so much right now.

They are in a weird magical forest so... maybe in his many hunting trips Arthur's heard stranger. The first season gave the impression he used to go hunting rather more before a certain homing beacon for weird stuff started living in his castle. xD

I actually wouldn't be surprised if ALL the knights knew about Merlin, he wasn't exactly subtle... Arthur just happens to be the medieval version of Lois Lane.

I love how the knights, especially Mordred, are all looking at him and silently thinking, 'Are you really that dense or just plain stupid?'
I like to think that the rest of the Knights (beside Mordred of course) figured out Merlin has magic since they basically first met him (Gwaine due the bar fight because flying chairs come on. Percy, I think Lance would have spoken, without naming names, about Merlin and Percy is a smart cookie and would figure it out that it was Merlin that Lance's was talking about. And Leon, I don't know when Leon may have clicked on to Merlin's magic, but I think sometime after season 3 and he's been brought back to life by the Cup of Life) and all have bets on how much longer it will take Arthur to figure it out.
They're beginning to lose all hope and Gwaine is beside himself with happiness because he's bet that Arthur is too dense to figure out so he's winning!
Anyway, love it!

Yay~! I've found someone who shares my headcanon!

I don't understand why Arthur's so dense, though... Like, is it possible to be that oblivious? XD

SapphireShelle91 In reply to Ant-And-Rubber-Trees [2013-02-09 06:53:43 +0000 UTC]

I'm glad I'm not the only one who believes this to be headcanon.
Only in Merlin, you can be.
I know by season four it was getting kind of ridiculous and by season five... it's almost not worth talking about because it just makes you want to bang your head on a wall... repeatedly! 'sigh'

Yeah, like, if Arthur's been knocked out that many times, shouldn't he have at least a little bit of brain damage? Just a little? XD

It's the only logical thing I can think of as to how he is so oblivious to the most obvious pieces of magic that Merlin has done right in front of him.

It makes me want to cry , especially in the later seasons where you really think Arthur would know better than to simply think every dropped branch and earth quake was simply a happy coincidence or lucky escape.
Sometimes you can't help but wonder if Merlin's got stuck protecting the wrong King and the real Once and Future King is either not born yet or is waiting, impatiently, for the Great and All Powerful Emyrs to turn up already.

I just love thinking about Arthur returning and trying to explain modern warfare to him. XD

"Where's all the swords and armor?"
"What the hell is that thing?!" (looking at a tank)
"So you pull a trigger, and whoever you're pointing the metal magic wand at dies?" (talking about a gun)
"Wait a minute - WOMEN?!"

SapphireShelle91 In reply to Ant-And-Rubber-Trees [2013-02-19 20:45:21 +0000 UTC]

Lol, that would so be Arthur's reaction to everything!
I think Merlin would both have a lot of fun explaining everything to him and being frustrated out of his mind and constantly facepalming everytime Arthur didn't something particularly wrong. I'm imagining Chris Hemsworth's Thor, you know when he threw the cup at the ground, smashing it, simply to say he wants more coffee. Not that I see Arthur doing something quite so extreme but I do see Thor's bemused curiousity in everything in our world being how Arthur would react to.

And the cell phones- I don't even want to know what he'd think about the cell phones.

And I can see him reacting like Thor, if only because Thor is from a planet with a similar frame of mind as Camelot.

He'd yell in them, that's what I see him doing. He'd yell and pronounce his words very slowly, dragging them out so that the person inside the strange contraption can hear him. That or he thinks the little person in the contraption needs saving so he busts up the cell phone;
"ARTHUR! That's the fifth one this WEEK!"
'Sheepish Arthur, "It was talking to me, I thought some kind of magic had trapped someone in this device-thing and they needed saving."
'Merlin simply blinks at him a couple of times before walking away, muttering "prat," under his breath.

Same with TV.

"Hey, Arthur, I'm ba- OHMYGOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
*Arthur smashing the TV* "I'm saving the people that are being forced to perform inside! How could you, Merlin?"
*facepalm* *Merlin then proceeds to explain the TV*

Oh gods, lol!
Could you imagine Merlin taking him the movies, especially a 3D movie?!
Merlin would have to drag him out before the 2nd act even began because Arthur was jumping up and down in his seat and yelling at the screen.
I pity Merlin greatly, lol. And you know that Gwen and the rest of the Knights, who would all come/appear in the modern world after Arthur but would pick up and get stuff in like a day while it took Arthur a month to get it right. He would get so cranky about that... and then blame Merlin. Poor Merlin! lol
