Description
See the rest of this series here: starbat.deviantart.com/gallery…I feel like creating entries in this series also for Generation One characters. The artist who originally started this has given her blessing.
Sweet Stuff is a very shy pony lacking in self-confidence from Generation One. Think Season One Fluttershy. Sweet Stuff gets a whole episode dedicated to her learning to value her own input, entitled "Sweet Stuff and the Treasure Hunt."
The "Two Sides" series was originally started by TehJadeh .
Please check out her awesome gallery, where you'll find many other characters portrayed in this way. tehjadeh.deviantart.com/galler…

The episode it references has a happy ending though.

I would see her and shady would get a long with fluttershy, with being a bit of a doormat in the trasure hunt episode, and grouchy squirrel would get the stare by fluttershy

I think your mixing up Sweet Stuff, Sundance and Shady's personalities. She didn't really have self esteem issues except in one episode and that didn't last long.

Sweet Stuff lacks self confidence because of a lack of a certain inner fortitude when confronting others.
Sundance similarly lacks confidence, but with a particular focus on her clumsiness.
Shady lacks confidence, but only because she sees outside circumstances as constantly conspiring against her.
These characters have similar hang-ups but with different flavors and focuses.
I based this one that one Sweet Stuff episode because it was the only one that gave her any particular focus as a character, so it seemed the most reliable.
Sundance's "Two Sides" entry will be coming soon enough.

Sweet Stuff lacked self confidence in 1 episode. We've all been there at least once. This does not make up her entire character as it does with Shady. And once again why not introduce them as they are?

What else can you say about Sweet Stuff based on other episodes?
What about those episodes contradicts what we have here?
If you say "there's more to her than that", that's fine, but that's just an empty platitude. Unless you can say something else SOLID about her, then Sweet Stuff and the Treasure Hunt is as good as source as you can ask for.

Poor thing suffered from the same lack of confidence as Spike (G4) in Equestria Games.

Her colors here are a lot colder than I remember from the original cartoon.

That's the effect of the gradients I used to capture the "crystal pony" look of G4. The colors end up a bit washed-out/desaturated. It's supposed to make her look "shiny". ^^

She's just a kind pony. She has one episode where she is unsure of herself, but doesn't really show that kind of attitude in any other episode she's in. Her back card depicts her as a candy maker and I'm unsure of her comic book personality.

She's basically G1's Fluttershy, even more so than Posey in terms of personality.
She is extremely shy and unsure of herself, and easily gets walked on by others.
She gets a whole episode dedicated to her called, "Sweet Stuff and the Tresure Hunt". In that episode, she learns that she really does have value and does have useful things to say, yada yada. She learns the same lesson Spike learns in Equestria Games. ^^

No offense but I'm sick and tired of G4 fans depicting every old character as a prototype version of the main six. Posey is not Fluttershy and neither is Sweet Stuff. Fizzy and Minty are not Derpy. They're their own characters with their own strengths and weaknesses and it's as ridiculous and ass backwards as saying that someone's grandparents are a prototype of someone just because they share a certain hair color or have a short fuse or enjoy composing music.

Starbat In reply to LittleKunai [2017-06-20 18:34:23 +0000 UTC]
You're reading too much into it. Saying something "is like" something else is not the same thing as saying they are literally the same.
I'm just playing to the knowledge base of fans who may be most familiar with G4, to give them a starting idea.
Posey is often type cast as a "prototype" Fluttershy, but I would agree that in terms of personality this is untrue. Although the fact that her color scheme is very similar betrays the fact that her character design served as a starting template for what became Fluttershy.
I've often said that it is actually more accurate to compare Sweet Stuff and Fluttershy as being similar. And again, just because two characters have SIMILAR personalities is not the same as saying they are the same.... Especially now that Fluttershy has grown as a character far more than Sweet Stuff ever got a chance to.
Sorry for my choice of words, but I think you're getting worked up over nothing. No offense.

Because it invalidates the fact that these characters have their own personality, history, experiences, strengths and weaknesses. Why should they hafta be introduced as a prototype of this and that? Why not introduce them just as they are? It also causes misconception and confusion. Plus it's a flat out blatant lie. Cartoon-wise at least, Sweet Stuff is mostly just there.

Starbat In reply to LittleKunai [2017-06-20 18:51:19 +0000 UTC]
And by you're own admission, the comics don't tell you much about her, and her back card only establishes that she's a candy maker. Try making a "Two Sides" based on that....
We need FLAWS for these entries to work, and to make the characters interesting. If Sweet Stuff is mostly "just there" in the rest of the cartoon, then all that means is there is nothing contradicting her depiction in "Sweet Stuff and the Treasure Hunt"?
What Positive things can you say about Sweet Stuff? Yes, she's kind (like Fluttershy), and she is shy and unsure of herself (also like Fluttershy). If you really want to differentiate her effectively, you need to embellish her a bit. What else can you say? What other strengths or weaknesses does she have? If you can't give much of an answer to that, then it is not inaccurate to compare her to Fluttershy.
But again, try to keep in mind that it's not the same thing as "demoting" her to a Fluttershy clone or a prototype. She's just similar.

You misunderstood my words, I'm not at all familiar with her comic personality because they are relatively new to me and I haven't seen her yet, barring Applejack's Big Adventure. Plus I've noticed that UK personalities are sometimes different then their US counterpart.
You are the one who said she's pretty much Fluttershy and that is incorrect.

She gets used as a goal post when some sea ponies ask her to help them play. She also keeps running into an angry gopher on that day during a scavenger hunt. But she's the only one to figure out Megan's riddle of 'the one who are many'. mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Sweet_St…
Basically, her special talent appears to be an overwhelming common sense.

Given this is an 80s cartoon, part of the message IS that everyone has talent of some sort or another.

LittleKunai In reply to alexwarlorn [2017-06-20 18:35:56 +0000 UTC]
Yes but not all of them. Sweet Stuff never did any candy making as her back card suggested in the cartoon, she was just sort of there. There was no strong, obsessive emphasis on *special talent.* That's a more recent development.

Yes but like I said an emphasis on special talent is namely a G4 thing. I didn't think I'd have to explain THAT to someone who is a fan of multiple generations and who knows otherwise.
