The age will say that I was far wrong
To lust after you in my loving way
The age will say I'm too far gone
Still, I'm not lost in you every day

I want you to feel my deep love
I want to show you how kind I can be
I want to be for you as soft as a dove
I want you to love me as true love decrees

Still, day by day, this poet lies
I play like I'm free yet still I am bound
Day after day I watch all the skies
For something to take me away from the ground

I want to bare to you my deepest dreams
I want you to repeat the sweet refrain
I want you to see me and always beam
I want to be free from this horrid pain!

I don't want to make out day and night
I don't want to strut and look over-pretty
I don't want to fuck for our only delight
I don't want to show off all over the city

I just want to know that there's someone who cares
Someone who'll treat as I treat them all
Someone who's hurt, and yet still dares
To comfort others, and save them from the fall

I want to know that I'm not alone
I want you to show I have an ally
I want a friend in this crusade against pain
I want you to say it again and again.
