Keeping my projects up between work and writing, another one for my Transformers '86 collection with that iconic moment when Hot Rod 100% fails in his effort to stop Prime from being killed by Megatron
Although quick animated projects like this usually give me time to work out stuff for my book, this time I cranked up the volume and played the entire G1 soundtrack and the deluxe edition to the movie as well with all those kick-ass 80's rock themes
Done with polychromos pencils and built up in layers, utilising my pressure application and layering techniques, the picture consists of 28 colours.
Megatron's head was done with white, Payne's grey, black, deep scarlet red, warm grey 1 and warm grey 4.
His body was done with white, magenta, Payne's grey, black, warm grey 1 and warm grey 4.
His arms were done with white, Payne's grey, cold grey 4, warm grey 1 and warm grey 4.
His hands were done with manganese violet, Payne's grey, black, warm grey 4, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
The blaster pistol was done with light magenta, medium flesh, light flesh, magenta, light ultramarine, delft blue and cold grey 5.
The blast effect was done with white, light magenta, medium flesh and light flesh.
Hot Rod's head was done with white, light carmine, sky blue, Payne's grey, black and warm grey 4.
His body was done with white, light yellow glaze, cadmium orange, light orange, light carmine, Payne's grey and black.
His arm was done with white, cadmium orange, light carmine, Payne's grey and warm grey 4.
The grass was done with permanent green olive, may green and warm grey 4.
The mountains were done with delft blue, sky blue, manganese violet, warm grey 1, warm grey 4 and warm grey 6.
Finally the cloudy sky was done with white, ultramarine, light cobalt blue, light phthalo blue, sky blue, dark phthalo blue and warm grey 1.

Completion time: 7 hours, 48 minutes
