Description
I recently saw a video about how shape language (giving a character personality with shape alone) changes a character's appearance. It was interesting, so I decided to try it for myself. I drew the Guardians with (mostly) a singular shape in mind.I used a square for Dune, because squares symbolize strength and practicality; two traits that I feel Dune really had. He was also pretty sure, even with all his injuries. (Strong and masculine characters in animated shows are generally made of squares and rectangles; take Reck-It Ralph as an example)
Kestrel is comprised of triangles and other sharp shapes. Triangles can generally mean that a character is short-tempered or dangerous. They can also technically imply that a character is evil, but I don't think of Kestrel as Evil. Not really, anyways.
Circles give off a feeling of friendliness and wisdom, which is why I picked the shape for Webs. He always seemed to be the nicest of the guardians, and he would bring them scrolls so they could learn more.
I had a lot of fun doing this, especially Kestrel's design. Maybe I should do this more often. Sorry I haven't posted art in a while, I've been pretty busy with school stuff. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy!
(Sorry that DA ruined the quality)

Looks amazing! I'll probably have to try to use that technique some time soon....
