//:  I wish I could say things went as smoothly as the drop for the rest of the operation but that’d be a lie. Since we inserted only a few blocks from where the convoy had been ambushed the timetable on this was fairly short. By the time we got to our troops they were still fighting off the Covenant. I don't think I've seen ODSTs be scrambled for an op so fast but I'm open to setting a new record. I’m mainly just bullshitting about that. Fame isn’t my thing. I’d prefer to just get the job done clean and quick-no bullshit. Ironic, right? Things are never that simple.

It was a miracle the Marines didn't get blasted to bits during their firefight. I noticed the smoldering heap of what used to be a Wraith on the other side of the street and I could only imagine the damage one could wreak on a convoy. Unfortunately I didn’t have to imagine. In front of us was the evidence that the convoy didn't get out unscathed. We weren't able to take proper stock until the last of the Covenant surrounding us were dead. Fortunately we had an advantage while the Marines had their attention. As per usual style, Sandover split us up into two teams. She usually took Vega with her and sent Farrah with me. I still don’t know if it’s because she likes giving Farrah a semblance of command or if she’s got the hots for our resident sniper. Heh.

In less than an hour since drop we were linked up with the Marines from Heart of Valor's convoy and had dispatched the enemy in the immediate area. [Just summing it up for you slow types]. The bad news was that the convoys from Rage Against Heaven and End of Winter were already nearing the Covenant landing zone. They wouldn't have been able to start an effective attack without us but holding off ran the risk of being spotted by the enemy. Quite obvious there. Sandover immediately checked in with Major Denning who was effectively coordinating the whole attack. Captain Vassão was rather fond of him it seemed; unusual behavior for our stoic Captain to exhibit. Still, he seemed to trust him. In my opinion? Unlucky guy to be leading the convoy that got ambushed. Well, he did survive so I guess he wasn't shit out of luck.

While Alpha-6’s squad leader and the Major chatted things up, the rest of us were securing a perimeter. I could see that a few of the Marines were already shaken up by the whole thing. Some were psyched out and discouraged. Doubting the Op could be run. I wanted to knock some sense into them for screwing things up. If they'd have done their job in the first place, we wouldn't have had to drop in and save their asses. You'd think they'd want us to wipe for them too at that point. Of course, that wasn't my place. I'm sure Major Denning might not have appreciated someone chastising his men in front of him. I could tell from Sandover's tone she didn't like the situation either. Having to save his ass and then take orders from him? Nah. She preferred to be in charge of everything. Hell, that's just her I suppose.
