Backhanded compliments are not compliments. The artist is intelligent and picks up on that.

By all means voice your opinion. But no one owes you an apology or is asking for your "forgiveness".

You are aware aren't you that as of The Journal of the Two Sisters, Celestia and Luna are born alicorns from a race of alicorns, yes?
Written by Amy Keating Rogers, one of the writers for the show itself. No, it doesn't matter what Lauren Faust intended. She never owner the rights to the show and her ideas had to be approved. And some of them were even outright rejected.
So since there are more than the four alicorns, what's wrong with there being an alicorn? The show has proven time and time again that they're not gods, nor even god like beings. It only took six unicorns to raise and lower the moon and the sun. More powerful, yes. But only perceived to be gods by limited human understanding and perception.

So any prejudicial notions about alicorns you may have are entirely unfounded and your comment comes off as "Very willing to forgive the unicorn" or "Very willing to forgive the pegasus" or even "very willing to forgive the earth pony" or perhaps "Very willing to forgive the Irish descendancy." 

So its probably about time that the fandom gave up the alicorn racism. They're not the only species that can be portrayed by fans as being over powered. I've seen pegasai that are "faster than Rainbow Dash" and unicorns that are "More magical than Twilight Sparkle"
