What, if anything, did you you use for references? A couple of years back I made a small scale Lego version. Now I'm trying to refine it and finding good reference shots is a nightmare!

i recently decided to make the claudia, myself. only problem is that school's going to get in the way.

well, i've finally gotten around to starting on the claudia, and it's turning out to be likely my most epic build without also being completely fragging nuts. although a few of the proportions are a little off, but, let's face it, they were off in skies of arcadia, so i'm more or less setting them straight.

Ah that's cool. My next ideas were to make Piastol's small ship and Belleza's ship. Just haven't felt like getting into another big construction project yet.

Wow...I just envy these "mega-projects". How their creators manage to build them with as little to no fail as possible, I'll never know. I really do want to do big projects on my own, but like many people, I just "jump the gun" without thinking it through first. Then it gets boring afterward and I just decide to scrap it.
How did you manage to keep yourself on track and finish this without thinking it might become an "epic fail"?

Mostly because it wasn't hard to do, just time consuming. The worst I expected to come out of it was it to be a little out of proportion, which technically it still slightly is, but not really noticable. Most stuff like this isn't hard to make as far as actually designing, just a matter of whether you feel like being bothered to take the time to go through with it. Since I sure didn't take any measurements or anything for this, I just eyeballed some screenshots of the outside of the ship then between that and memory I spend a bunch of hours putting it together. Had I had a flying mod and had beds been available it probably would have taken half as long even then.

I don't know about in MP, but in SP it's very usefully. Much easier to use black wool to color something than obsidian, since if you make a mistake with obsidian then fuuuuuu as we all know.

Thanks! SoAL will always be one of my favorite RPGs, and after seeing the airship trend in Minecraft I really wanted to create one of the greatest airships of all time, plus it's probably the only airship around that won't be completely ravaged by a fire.

Well it'll probably never move in Minecraft proper, but maybe by MODs anyway. I seen someone working on a custom-boat patch, although yeah it was much smaller, and the patch is still pretty buggy. But the guy had a huge 10x10 boat made with wooden planks, which he was able to walk on it after he stopped piloting it, as well as dismantle and replace each block while he was standing on it. Who knows...

Oh I know it will likely never be in vanilla minecraft, but I sure hope some mod wizard can make it so maybe you can select an area of blocks and have them move.(Though clipping into mountains would make massive ships like the Delphinus be a problem anyway I guess) That mod sounds cool, I hope he can develop it further. Airships really are a cool thing in MC, and making them mobile would be glorious.
