Starrulet In reply to ??? [2015-04-24 09:59:33 +0000 UTC]
Haha, no. Do a character study.
Argh, fine. I'll spill the beans.
Germany is slightly unhinged, with the only thing keeping him stable being Prussia. Unfortunately, he is too dependent on Prussia, asking him for his opinion and advice frequently and rarely, if ever, doing anything that would upset him. Germany tries to pretend that this dependency does not exist in front of others, as he's fully aware that this is not normal and not considered good. He sadly fails and everyone knows. On the flipside, Prussia and Germany do tend to act much more brotherly than their 1p!counterparts.
The desire to have Prussia's approval sort of reflects on historical events - Germany was formed twice, once in 1848, and again later in 1871. The first time, it was formed by the people, rather than nobility. Because of this, the Prussian king would not agree to be crowned emperor, as he did not want to be crowned by commoners. The country fell apart a year later. In 1871, Germany was reunited again, but this time by nobility, which was far more acceptable to the king. This created the German Empire.
A lot of people mistake Germany's uncertainty to be insecurity and helplessness, but in truth it's him not wanting to make his own choices. Having had a habit of sucking up to Prussia, he has never really made his own decisions and never went through the whole "becoming your own person" thing. The only time he made his own choices was during the world wars. In the first, it was the decision to participate in the war, against his brother's wishes (which caused no ends of trouble for him, as he suffered from shell shock and also met Italy), and in the second, it was the decision to "assist" his nation with "internal problems" (Unlike his 1p!counterpart, he was not at the fronts during this war, but in the camps. As an officer. ... yeeeaaaah....).
With these two being the biggest decisions he made by and for himself and arguably the worst possible ones to make, he is very uncomfortable making his own choices now, as he's worried he'll make more mistakes. He also likes relying on others, as he can then blame poor decisions on them, rather than having to accept the consequences of his actions. You could call this not wanting to take responsibility. This is another historical reflection, as when everyone found out about the concentration camps and everyone wanted to know who was responsible for such a horror, the answer was always "I was just doing what I was told, blame my boss". Very few, if anyone, took responsibility for what they had done. Everyone always pointed to the person that was stationed above them, and of course, the person at the very top couldn't be punished, as he had already killed himself (and Eva Braun).
The thing that causes Germany's constant nervousness (and anxiety) is the incredible guilt he suffers from. As he'd been an officer at a concentration camp and had actually enjoyed and liked his job, the guilt and refusal to accept what had happened causes him to show behaviour often associated with being guilty, such as nervousness. The guilt also makes him quiet and uncomfortable with expressing emotions, as he's afraid of saying something that "could get him caught". So when he does express any emotions, you can expect them to be extremely volatile. This is also where his desire to please people stems from. He wants people to think positively of him, despite of what had happened.
He also has a tendency to overthink things. This does not help with his guilt-ridden mind. At all.

YESSSSβ¦okay, I know this is a really late reply to this comment and that my comment is probably gonna end up a wall of text and I'm sorry if this bothers you, but justβ¦YES. FINALY, someone who has(pretty much) the same idea/head-cannon for 2P!Germany's personality.Β
I have a thing for well developed characters like this but, so far, despite being quite the hetalia fan, and searching far and wide,I haven't quite found any version of 2P!Germany that I find to be interesting(along with most of the rest of the cast but with a few definite exemptions).Mostly because, for some reason, all of the people I've seen create/creating their own version for 2P!Germany(in general) tend make him seem soβ¦shallowβ¦or at least that's what I've observed.Usually, even if the rest of the 2P's! are decently developed,Lutz always seems to be left out.It seems like they just try to put Lutz into the "BADASS B*TCH" or "lazy-potato"stereotype and then that's it for him. No more character development. No explanations to why he acts like he does.No more effort/thought put into it.Nothing. It's like they just went:"BOOM BADASS!NEXT.". It's either like this with him or another one/more of the cast. And well...being me,who is so attracted to deeper characters, and historical accuracy seeing that it's hetalia,I guess that's why I don't find them interesting lol.Β
It's just so refreshing seeing someone make the 2P!talia cast seem so real, especially Lutz. Which is why I have to say, good job ma'am/sir on this lovely comic. No, seriously good job, there's something about your art style, paneling, characters, and overall aesthetic of this comic that's had me binge reading this all night and making me want follow through to the end of the story.
Speaking of endings, I know the original game got discontinued, and I'm just curious, have you thought of an ending for this yet?

I can honestly say I was not expecting that. Thank you so much!
And yes, I do already have an ending for 2p!HetaOni, just not the bits in between.

but kinda feel sorry for the guy...kinda want to pat his back
let me givu u lots of hugs
hey im writing a crossover book with mah OC (the other books will be full of gore and sadness talking about their story)
and i wanted to know (since everyone alse ignores me ;- how do u think 2pGermany will be around my one and only Ares (my fav OC
) like this guy is full of confidence (is that how u write it 0-0) talks his mind out without fear and if he did something wrong he will be like "yeah i tried to do something good....and i failed....and im sooorrryy for that" but he is most of the time spaced out slightly smiling with his mind somewhere.....something tells me 2pGermany will hide behind his back and blame him for things...like wasting all the toilet paper (seriously brain thats the first thing come in mind?) but what do u think?

Starrulet In reply to vasou-christine [2015-04-24 17:18:07 +0000 UTC]
It's hard to say. I'd have to be familiar with your character "Ares" in order to accurately decide how he would react...
But from what you told me, I don't feel 2p!Germany would like him. There is a thin line between everything. As such, confidence borders on being full of one's self. And no one likes someone that's full of themselves. In addition to this, your character seems to be easy-going and constantly happy. Again, unappealing, as this indicates obliviousness, denial or not caring.
2p!Germany's more attracted to people that are calm and mature, that understand the world on a deeper level and seem to be a well of knowledge and wisdom... such as his older brother, 2p!Prussia. He's also fiercely loyal, so even though someone else is responsible for his actions, he will do his best to protect and defend them.
I think you may be misunderstanding 2p!Germany's personality though. He cannot be stereotyped as a coward. He can not be stereotyped as a guy that blames everyone else for his actions. His character is not blatantly obvious like that.

i must learn more things...or ask for help...cause whenever i search random shit pop out and everyone has a different opinion on how the 2ps personalities are and im getting more and more confused everyday......like DE FUQK

Then 2p!Germany will very unlikely find any appeal in him. He's already dealing with mental cases on a day-to-day basis, excluding himself, as his job kind of requires him to. He would have no interest in befriending more unstable people.
2p!talia isn't canon at all, with excetion of Japan, Italy and Germany's designs (excluding personalities). Because of this, you can literally do anything you like with the 2ps. They can even be better than their 1ps, but no one ever takes it in that direction, due to them looking darker and edgier than their 1p!counterparts.... So yeah, there are a lot of different ways to characterise them. I haven't really come across any that had any depth to their characters though, so idk To each their own.
I'm not really into dark and edgy things, so I think I'll give it a miss, if that's all right. I'm also not really into crossovers...
I wish you the best of luck in your writing schemes.

Firstly - I don't know any character creator... thing. I haven't released any RPG games so I don't know why you've associated me with RPG Maker.
Secondly - If you're confused with what's wrong, trace your steps to when everything was last functioning correctly and go from there. If confusion lingers, use tutorials or forums to discuss your problem.

I think I might have a vague memory of that movie...
Isn't that about two brothers finding the city of gold, El Dorado, and then being treated like gods?
(And they in turn pretend to also be the gods the people in the city believe them to be.)

That depends which country you live in. The same laws apply in Switzerland for example. I wasn't sure if Sweden also had the same laws, so I just hinted.
And yes, it's kind of ironic. It's like a black market, just that the stuff's for free and you only get into trouble if you're the seller. :I
